In this role, you have the opportunity to

Leverage your expertise as a technology specialist and market expert in special materials constituent of rare earth ingredients and designated technologies.

Share your expertise with cross regional design teams in design and new product development and strong relationship building skills will allow you to define strategy and drive for results.

You are responsible for

  • Providing subject-matter expertise in the related commodity.
  • Creation and development Commodity Strategy and Sourcing Plans with a short to medium term 1 3 year sightline.
  • Actively participates in commodity teams and provides commodity spend analytics.
  • Identifies, qualifies, ranks and selects appropriate suppliers including adequate involvement of customers and according to RFQ as defined by the Commodity Manager.
  • In conjunction with the agreement owner establishes and administers ongoing supplier management program
  • Manages relationships with customers and suppliers. Partnering with design teams to select the right suppliers.
  • Develop maintain and communicate Commodity Preferred Supply Base across Personal Health, Health Systems and Business Units
  • Ensure that the Preferred Supplier List (PSL) meets the commercial requirements (contracts, business review meeting, negotiations)
  • Builds and sustains a network with people in relevant related business areas to ensure knowledge transfer and sharing of best practices.
  • Responsible for engaging multi-functional team (e.g. supplier quality, PE's and strategic buyers).
  • Discover new leverage opportunities in assigned portfolio.
  • Ensures that all Procurement related risks are controlled and mitigated.
  • Develop saving plans for the assigned (sub) commodity.
  • You are a part of

    A global commodity team consisting of commodity managers that continuously interface with other cutting edge companies and their technologies across the globe.

    You will represent Philips in the supply industry and work closely together with your procurement counterpart in the business to fulfill their sourcing needs with top notch technology supply at the right price at the right quality and time.

    You frequently interact with key persons and leadership in R&D Engineering, (product) Marketing, Quality & Regulatory, Legal and Operations to secure supply to demand.

    To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience

  • Bachelors / Master’s degree.
  • At least 5+ year’s knowledge and experience in related technologies / Procurement field and commodity management.
  • Experience in strategically managing global supply base
  • Good understanding and high interest in system architecture
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Must be able to influence decision makers in a complex matrix environment
  • Comfortable in working with a wide variety of disciplines such as R&D Engineering, Marketing, Quality & Regulatory, Legal and Operations
  • Experience working at global, matrix organization
  • Leadership skills and solid business understanding
  • Strong result orientation
  • Fact based, makes solid business cases
  • Your responsibilities

    As Global Commodity Manager Special Materials, you will be responsible for

  • Discovering new leverage opportunities in assigned portfolio.
  • Stakeholder management (CEO / CFO and other functional executives) in the assigned organizational scope.
  • Challenge ways of working and drive change to enable cost savings both internally as with the supplier.
  • Manage the portfolio of medical products and gain deep understanding of the supply market.
  • Develop and manage key strategic supplier partnerships with regard to the most critical commodity and commodity clusters.
  • Leading the supplier sourcing process for the global suppliers in the assigned scope
  • Give guidance to a multi-functional team of sourcing specialists globally (e.g. supplier quality, commodity engineers and local procurement specialists).
  • Gain deep understanding of the supply market and deploy in the local commercial organizations.
  • Ensuring that all Procurement related risks are controlled and mitigated.
