Business Decision Analyst

The Business Decision Analyst provides senior business management (Olefins & Polyolefins) with strategic, market, economic and technology analyses necessary to understand the businesses and to improve medium and long term financial performance.

The incumbent takes responsibility to evaluate, report, and make recommendations related to both commercial and operational decisions concerning business profitability, strategic direction, capital investments, and revenue growth / cost reduction opportunities, taking into account both external and internal benchmarks.

Activities also include the development and assessment of strategic business analyses.

This Business Decision Analyst coordinates and supports the various stages of the LYB Planning Process for the relevant business unit : Long Range Plan (LRP), Budget and Annual Execution Plans.

The position requires interaction with various functional groups throughout the organization including Business Finance, Strategic Planning & Transactions, and Manufacturing, and with external consultants.

Requirements for the role :

  • Master’s degree in Engineering / Chemistry / Finance / Economics / related field of study
  • MBA preferred (equivalent work experience will be considered)
  • Six or more years current experience in planning, evaluation, business and financial analysis are essential.
  • Good understanding of the petrochemical industry, particularly olefins / polyolefins business, has a preference
  • Skills :

  • Strong analytical evaluation and judgment skills; demonstrated ability to handle and lead complex analytical and evaluation assignments; attentive to detail
  • Extensive understanding of corporate finance, financial modeling and analytical tools (IRR, payback, EVA, NPV, etc)
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to work effectively as a team member, and achieve results through the contributions of other people within and outside the immediate organization
  • Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills consistent with client group including Senior Managers & Executives
  • Possess an understanding of the chemical industry and the drivers of its performance
  • Advanced PC skills, including Excel spreadsheets, PowerPoint, databases, graphics, financial modeling
  • Languages :
  • English fluent
  • English fluent
  • Basic knowledge of other European languages a plus
