Discards and Inventory of Questionable Value (IQV)

The COSI organization includes 3 main
pillars (COSI Inventory, IQV & Discards / COSI Cost & Sales / COSI
Above Market & Intercompany), and is responsible to perform End-to-End
activities from actual transactional occurrence of a financial result till
consolidation level in HQ. These activities are performed for >
Company Codes (and increasing) for all regions, which will roll up directly
into divisional and global results. On a monthly basis actual financial results
being provided to business partners with high level commentary and
explanations, so that adequate (strategic) business decisions can be made for
Merck’s Inventory Life Cycle. Hereby the financial results are provided with
integrity and treated with sensitivity.
Further, this organization is continuously
looking for synergies and business processes changes with business partners
to optimize and improve systems & processes in line with Merck s internal
policies and procedures but also external, US GAAP & IFRS.
This position is part of the COSI Inventory
team supporting all regions globally under the SAP platform. The team is responsible
for accurately performing accounting activities in relationship to Merck’s
Inventory with main focus on IQV (Inventory of Questionable Value) & Discards,
informing business partners of actual Inventory results from an End-to-End
The primary activities include but are notlimited to :
that appropriate and adequate internal controls are in place in accordance
with corporate procedures including liaising with internal (MCAAS) and
external (PwC) audit teams.
for performing accounting activities for IQV, from and in line with US GAAP
and according to Merck internal reporting design from End-to-End perspective.
of accounting Discards and accurate reporting within Merck’s internal reporting
for alignment of Discard’s P&L accounts with the relevant FSA (Financial
Sharing Area) metrics on Country and Divisional level.
for alignment of IQV balance accounts with the FSA Inventory Roll-Forward
metrics per Company Code.
as a first point of contact for external and internal auditors in relation to
for maintaining the IQV & Discard FSA metrics for all regions.
roll out of Standardized and Centralized processes, tools, and activities in
line with Merck’s policies and procedures.
in regional Governance meeting and provide pro-active feedback to
to identify and follow up on process improvement from an End-to-End scenario.
and reporting performance metrics, and perform ad-hoc consolidation analysis
to support business decisions.
and reconciling inventory account balances related to COSI processes between
the General Ledger and SAP to ensure alignment for all regions.

or Bachelor’s degree in Business Economics, Finance or Accountancy
in Finance. Experience in Supply Chain is a plus
