The global Research & Development activities are coordinated and steered from Nunhems head office in Haelen, The Netherlands.

Main tasks- Liaise with customers (mainly breeders) to collect their testing needs for phytopathology screenings. - Translate customers’ needs into an executable plan, taking into consideration testing capacities and optimum response time.
Formulate opinions on serialization of new methods developed by the Research teams. The position advertised will be located in the R&D Services Department of Nunhems (Nunhem, NL).
The team leader operates at the intersection of the R&D functions phytopathology, breeding and services. The team leader needs to be service-
minded, team-spirited and be a clear communicator (in particular with respect to managing expectations and ambiguities). At this moment in time, the team needs to be set up.
As a team leader you will have the possibility to build your own team. The routine disease screenings performed will be fairly high-
throughput : large datasets will be produced throughout the year. The team leader is responsible for scheduling of activities and needs to show demonstrable organizational skills.
The team leader needs to be able to share his / her time between computer work and laboratory / greenhouse work. Consistency and continuity of the test results produced will be a key performance indicator for the position.
The team leader will have to be rigorous and have a keen attention to details (in particular with respect to prevent problems and taking necessary steps to ensure quality of result output).
In addition the team leader must have interest in (future) new technologies to optimize disease tests and data analysis.
Throughout his / her days, the team leader will be working with technicians from the R&D Service department. The team leader has to be able to manage, train, and supervise team members.
At this moment the team needs to be set up. He / she will take an active role in the assembly of a new Phytopathology Services team.
The team leader also needs the right communication skills to be a partner for other departments in R&D. A demonstrable experience in this context would be a plus.
Who you are
Profile : - BSc or equivalent in Biology. Experience in running testing services would be a plus. - Sound Practical knowledge in activities related to Plant Science.
Previous experience in Phytopathology, plant raising and maintenance preferred. - Good communication skills needed to interacts with co-
workers (technicians, farm workers) as well as clients (breeders, scientists) - Good reporting skills and Excel Skills (examples of reports might be requested)-
Fluent in English and Dutch The position offers a stepping stone for future functions with higher responsibilities, the team leader therefore needs to show a potential for growth .
