In GBS, innovation is a key enabler of success and we have made it a priority. This is why we have created the GBS Innovation Studio and now we are hiring the first team members.

As Manager GBS Innovation Studio you will have the unique chance to contribute to the build-up of the studio, shaping the team that will take adidas GBS into the next frontier of technologies and user experiences.

The goal of this team is to drive disruptive or incremental ideas that help ensure that our users benefit from the full potential of our existing services.

This team will also seek for opportunities to expand our service offer, either learning from best-in-class practices outside adidas or pioneering models that have never been done before.

Working closely with the GBS senior team, the GBS Innovation Studio will explore inside and outside of adidas to propose radically different solutions to complex challenges and unleash game-changing opportunities.

This role will give you the opportunity to influence how adidas works in the back-end and see the results in the front-end our GBS strategy is a key enabler of our company strategy to 2025 Own the Game.

If you are successful, you, together with the team, will have developed and co-implemented ideas already within a year or two.

Scaling these ideas will help bringing our user satisfaction index to record highs, based on innovation that results in higher simplicity, speed and quality of our services, as well as the addition of new services to our portfolio.

You and the team will have also generated substantial savings by optimizing processes with innovative solutions both of which are backed by KPIs.

Ultimately, your work will impact the foundation of adidas and enable our company to react quickly and adapt fast to change.

The GBS Innovation Studio is part of the GBS Strategy & Projects Team.

Key Responsibilities :

Exploration, Strategy and Delivery Roadmap

  • Conduct research and exploration of external and internal key trends.
  • Insights Discovery and problem / opportunity reframing.
  • Organize engagements with alternative innovation models including hackathons, incubators, academic programs and accelerators
  • Contribute to the prioritization process that will help determine quarterly and yearly priorities for research, projects and pilots
  • Manage the innovation pipeline from identification, prioritization, assessment through pilots and eventual hand over to business
  • Partner with stakeholders to provide solution thinking in creation, prioritization, and validation of relevant innovation hypotheses
  • Propose key metrics for pilots and assessments that align with business goals
  • Contribute to the creation of narratives
  • Provide inputs to strategy matters and leadership materials
  • Manage contracting processes for pilot purposes, involving all relevant parties to ensure adidas interests are protected in the course of co-development of innovative pilots and prototypes
  • Create and deliver training materials for pilot transition to business operational ownership
  • Create and deliver actionable reports recapping pilot performance for a diverse audience
  • Be a key contributor to the ideation process, generating innovative ideas with the goal of driving significant, incremental user satisfaction and efficiency streams that elevate GBS impact in adidas
  • Networking & Collaboration :

  • Build a strong external network with other GBS organizations / other organizations, agencies, startups, digital leaders, Universities and alternate innovation models- such as accelerators, incubators, etc.
  • to augment the knowledge, skills and expand possibilities. Leverage adidas position as a partner that is invested in and pursuing innovation.
  • Partner closely with GBS leadership and their teams to support their goals through accelerating innovation efforts (e.
  • g. operational, incremental or opportunistic innovation)

  • Build a strong positioning of the Studio towards adidas
  • Collaborate and partner with key stakeholders in IT, Markets, Functions, etc. to create and manage an integrated release roadmap as well as deliver, measure, and transition pilot projects that meet specified goals
  • People Management :

  • Influence, coordinate and inspire a diverse flex team required to bring ideas into action
  • Influence a culture that is conductive to innovation. Continuously reinforce an ambitious yet realistic innovation delivery vision
  • Foster a culture of curiosity disrupt the status quo and move away from the path of least resistance to encourage bold ideas which change the game

  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :

  • Balance of creativity to look at problems in new ways and discipline to use a rigorous development and testing approach (lean& agile) to find out what works
  • Exceptional storyteller and communication skills (verbal, written, presentation). Outstanding ability to visualize and spell out strategic thoughts, bringing clear messages especially to senior executive-level.
  • Able to present with confidence and ownership, adapting communication style to suit each stakeholder (e.g. tech and non-tech audience)

  • Innovation Projects Launch and Coordination (Challenge, PoC, MVP, Pilots & Scale) mainly Digital Solutions (AI, Blockchain, )
  • Understanding of end-to-end digital experiences, processes and platforms. Data-driven.
  • Used to work under real delivery models (on Time, on Budget, on Scope, on Quality) anticipating pitfalls, finding solutions, scouting and validating partnerships and leading contracting processes
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with ability to define, drive and deliver on user and financial goals
  • Team player with ability to effectively collaborate with diverse partners across the organization at all levels
  • Design Research (Challenge & Solution Framing, User Research, insights activation, Ideation...). User empathy and solid services instincts.
  • Curious, ability to navigate user / stakeholder conversations, asking second and third level questions to get at the heart of their challenges and goals
  • Ability to work effectively in ambiguity, adapt to changing priorities, and drive with agility
  • Understanding of dynamics in a matrix organization
  • Education & Professional Experience
  • Ideally degree in Business, IT, Engineering or related field.
  • Familiar with innovation approaches such as design thinking, lean startup and agile being able to provide methodological support.
  • 3 years of experience in a combination of IT and Business / User experience.
