Drug Substance Development (DSD) is a global department located at both Amsterdam and Lexington sites of uniQure. Global DSD is responsible for 1) development of innovative process technologies in upstream processing (USP) and downstream processing (DSP), and 2) drug substance manufacturing process ownership (process development, transfer, scale-up, process characterization, and process performance qualification) for AAV-based gene therapy products.
Key result areas (major duties, accountabilities and responsibilities)
Responsible for planning, preparing, and executing experiments on upstream process (USP) and downstream process (DSP) development of AAV based products.
If assigned, responsibilities may include implementation of best laboratory practices, lab maintenance, equipment maintenance, and management of lab supplies.
Assist in developing the experimental plans, lab work plan, and writes the experimental protocols according to the project goals, scopes, and timelines.
Assist in performing experiments according to the uniQure’s quality and safety standards. Collects, manages, analyzes, and documents the experimental results according to the procedure.
Contributes to experimental data review, data storage, writing study reports, and writing standard operating procedures related to lab equipment and practices.
Proactively communicates the work progress and results to the direct supervisor and in internal meetings. Collaborates with the (junior / senior) scientists and other (junior / senior) bioprocess technologists.
Takes part in cleaning and maintenance of laboratories and equipment.
Qualifications & Skills
Holds a B.Sc. or M.Sc. in life sciences or bioprocess technology or equivalent.
Candidates with B.Sc. or equivalent degree must have 2+ years of work experience in biologics process development.
MSc. candidates do not require previous industrial experience, but the industrial experience will be a plus.
Has technical and operational expertise in USP (i.e. animal cell culture techniques and stirred-tank bioreactor). Possesses hands-on experience in multiple areas from the followings : Aseptic techniques, cell culture, Wave bioreactor, stirred-tank bioreactor, and genetically modified organism (GMO).
Motivated to learn and work on DSP techniques (i.e. chromatography and tangential flow filtration).
Good verbal and written communication skill in English.
