In this job you can do develop steels that end up in every car in Europe?
What's your job?
As a Principal Researcher you will set up experimental and modelling research activities from metallurgical idea to plant implementation and product application.
In this department you contribute to our suite of steel products in the markets of automotive and yellow goods. With your innovative mind-set you focus on delivering new products for these important markets.
Your research projects deal with tangible process and product implementation in the steelmaking process. You will work in close cooperation with prominent researchers from various disciplines and in an open, international and academic culture with highly motivated colleagues.
In the R&D knowledge group High Strength Strip Steels you will contribute to the development of new advanced and ultra-high strength strip products for Tata Steel.
Your scope varies from the first metallurgical idea to its commercial success as an implemented product. After an initial period, you will be expected to lead R&D New Product Development projects in the area of high strength strip steels.
An example of a product developed is DH800GI. For this product we had a typical cycle of stages, such as the generation of the idea, the laboratory stage to identify promising compositions and parameters, a series of plant trial to perfect the product before release, and limited after care on call.
The primary objective of the work is always to provide a recipe for a high-strength steel product that can be produced on site with current or future equipment.
