Business Contribution :

This position provides support to our end users and maintenance of our IT systems for our sites in Europe. This role has responsibilities that include end user support, asset management, as well as network / telecommunications maintenance and performance monitoring.

In addition, this person will act as a member of the global Actuant IT Team in supporting our Windows server & desktop environment including planning, monitoring, and evaluating the performance of server systems as well as making recommendations for improvements / upgrades.

This position deals with issues or problems that often require thoughtful evaluation before coming up with approaches or solutions.

This position must develop and maintain good working relationships, resolve problems, and positively influence others in order to successfully produce customer satisfaction.

This position will require active involvement with regional and global IT team members on projects involving information security, infrastructure and application upgrades, evaluations and testing that will benefit all Actuant sites.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Provide support for end users, desktops and systems across multiple sites in Europe with a primary responsibility for the Netherlands.
  • Provide end-user support for infrastructure services when escalated from the Help Desk.
  • Configure and install new servers and operating systems in support of internal projects and user requests.
  • Operationally support O365, Microsoft SCCM 2012, VMware.
  • Troubleshoot server hardware, software and connectivity issues; provide problem management and ownership.
  • Provide PC and file server technical support for non-standard software products required by the business or one of its departments.
  • Document server processes enforce corporate IT policies and procedures suggesting revisions or additions as appropriate.
  • Provide change, configuration and release management documentation for the production environment to maintain compliance with Sarbanes Oxley requirements.

  • Test operating systems, software and hardware in support of business needs to evaluate ease of use, appropriate functionality and integration into our environment.
  • Provide basic Network performance tuning and analysis.
  • Document the application installation, backup, recovery, and disaster recovery procedures to support applications running on the local / Regional Windows server environment.
  • Provide input to the global infrastructure strategy.
  • Work with current staff locally and internationally to learn different technologies including Cisco networking, firewalls, SD-
  • WAN etc. and act as an Europe IT regional backup person in these technologies.

    Required Skills

  • Good understanding of common Windows desktop platforms including Windows 7 and Windows 10
  • Technical and functional documentation skills are essential.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment with multiple projects.
  • Effective interpersonal skills, with the ability to easily and effectively interact with technical, non-technical, support, and business staff at all levels.
  • Self-starter; able to manage multiple tasks efficiently for on-time delivery.
  • Sound working knowledge of LAN / WAN topologies and architecture. Cisco experience is desirable.
  • Experience supporting Windows 2012 Server, including Active Directory experience with scripting skills.
  • Strong experience operationally managing technologies like VMware, Citrix, Symantec end point security, web filtering, O365 email environment.
  • Must be able to evaluate technologies, develop strategies and deliver presentations to IT management and peers.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills and experience communicating with technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Ability to develop effective working relationships with customers, co-workers and Administration; demonstrating a strong customer service orientation
  • Desired Background and Experience :

  • Must have 4 plus years of IT experience supporting Microsoft Windows Operating Systems including Server 2008, Server 2012, Windows 7, and Windows 10
  • Experience in PC imaging, and software package creation / deployment, using Microsoft SCCM a plus
  • Hands-on experience configuring Cisco switches and routers is preferred.
  • Essential Functions :

  • Must be able to communicate efficiently in English telephonically and electronically with team members and customers across the globe.
  • Must be able to hear / understand / speak English with team members at all levels within a diverse workforce.
  • Must be able to walk / climb to a variety of primary work locations, including the ability to travel by air / auto to remote sites.
  • Must be able to work in front of a personal computer for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift documents / work materials up to 23 kg in weight.
