The team & the role
You will be joining a UX team of 8, based in Amsterdam, working in a wider team of 32 local UXers, in a department of 71 UXers across the world.
This UX team designs for Products such as SciVal, that allow the users to visualize their research performance, benchmark & strategize, and identify new research trends.
With a systematic approach and a strong user focus, they create solutions that enable users to view and understand research data.
As one of the designers on this team, you will be responsible for the whole UX process, from concepting to execution, and continuous evaluation.
You will work as part of an agile team in an iterative process, with your designs being picked up every sprint. You will collaborate closely with other designers, researchers, product managers, developers and data scientists.
More about you
We are looking for a designer who can think deeply about design problems. Someone who is comfortable across the range of UX activities and has a special interest in data visualization.
You have 5+ years experience working as a UX designer, at least some of that time with an agile team.
You have a proven track record solving complex design problems.
You understand when to keep data designs simple and intuitive.
You are comfortable talking to users, and informing your design decisions on solid research, balancing between qualitative user testing, analyzing quantitative user data, and your own expertise.
You iterate continuously, knowing when to defend the user and when to let go, treating your design process like a conversation.
You know how to bring stakeholders along with you in this conversation, using a friendly and flexible communication style.
You are comfortable designing and prototyping using tools such as Figma & SketchApp, or other tools like Zeplin, InVision, etc, but also not afraid of pen and paper.
You are fluent in English.
You have a website or digital portfolio that showcases your design work.
Nice to haves
Experience with micro interactions, animation design, and using HTML and CSS as design tools.
Comfortable writing UX microcopy.
Understanding of designing for accessibility.
Prior experience of working with academics or researchers.
