About The Opportunity

In this role, you report directly to the Fokker Aerostructures site director as part of the site management team. The site manager ME is the leader of the site Manufacturing Engineering (ME) organisation and the Technical Service Center (TSC).

You are accountable to the Fokker Aerostructures Head of ME to ensure that changes are driven in the site and that product & quality improvements are realised.

You manage approximately 60 FTE’s on the site.

You are responsible for all ME and TSC related activities and holding functional managers accountable for Quality products and processes within the full manufacturing value stream through supply chain to customer.

You achieve the site growth and profitability goals, through the development of robust, repeatable and reliable manufacturing solutions, driving a culture of Quality.

In addition, you provide career development opportunities through leadership and training of teams and individuals.

Key Responsibilities Your responsibilities :

  • Contribute to and communicate the vision and mission for the company and the ME functional contribution.
  • Lead and drive the ME function and activities to deliver Quality product and processes meeting all site and customer requirements.
  • Provide leadership and direction in the ME function throughout the product life cycle. Driving the right cultural behaviors to embed a culture of Quality processes and products, right first time.
  • Deliver the long term plan on factory layout and investments.
  • Implement strategies and processes that focus on empowered employees to meet the expectations of our customers, employees and GKN leadership.
  • Deliver compliance with all customer requirements through a skilled and trained organisation in combination with an effective Manufacturing Engineering organisational structure.
  • Responsibility for setting key OpCo business Manufacturing Engineering functional targets. Leading and driving out waste through effective manufacturing processes meeting the OpCo Quality targets, contributing to the delivery of OpCo operational targets.
  • Act proactive within the Industrial Engineering area regarding capital planning, identification of methods, systems, equipment, labor and technologies required for the future
  • As a member of the site management team, champion Lean and continuous improvement initiatives into the business.
  • Strong contribution to and implementation of the Lean Roadmap
  • This role is accountable to the FAe Head of ME, to ensure that changes are driven in the site and that product & quality improvements are realised.
  • Support the FAe Head of Head of ME in the development of strategy and direction for Manufacturing Engineering activities within Fokker Aerostructures.
  • Ensure the company’s commitment to a safe workplace and safe products is upheld.
  • Your skills and competences :

    To succeed in this role, you have knowledge and experience on an academic level with at least 5 10 years of experience in the aerospace field.

    You have a BSc / MSc Degree in Engineering or equivalent. Other important characteristics are :

  • Proven record of achieving performance and operational improvements.
  • Business mind-set.
  • Holistic view.
  • Excellent written, verbal and communication skills.
  • Your personal competences :

  • Strong leadership, Influencing and communication skills.
  • Considerable experience in Engineering Management, and Operations within aerospace, ideally aero structures.
  • Leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience and knowledge within the Manufacturing Engineering area.
  • Maintains personnel resilience, energy levels and positivity in challenging times. Responds flexibly to changing environments.
