Within Signify’s Telecaster, the Industrial (Digital) Design Engineer is required to develop innovative architectural luminary solutions for different application areas in the B2B as well as in the B2C market.

You will be involved in the entire design process. This includes concept generation, mechanical design, generate CAD design, prototypes, detailed mechanical design, release for engineering.

Key responsibilities in this role are :

  • Deliver innovative and high-quality 3D design solutions, based on application requirements and other functional boundary conditions
  • Take full responsibility for total product architecture of the 3D printed Luminaire; including mechanical, optical and electrical aspects.
  • Design products ensuring that manufacturing printing and (automated) assembly is optimal

  • Work with digital tools, methods, and environments
  • Design, create and test a (sub-) system or component(s) based on design requirements and draw up specifications for the products and propositions.
  • Develop materials and techniques, and prepare design releases
  • Write reports and updates
  • Act as the industrial design engineer representative in a multi-disciplinary team
  • Clarify key trade-offs in design together with the product architect
  • Contribute to analysis and solution of reliability issues and provide long term improvement measures (e.g. design guidelines and tools) to achieve a faster time to market and raise quality.

  • Master’s degree in Industrial Design Engineering and / or Integrated Product Design
  • Knowledge of design principles and structural, dynamic analysis.
  • Experience in Industrial Design
  • Affinity with brainstorming methods, Concept creation methods, Design evaluation methods (e.g. FMEA), Design for assembly, Design for manufacturability
  • Have a systematic and systemic approach
  • Experience with CAD tools. Preferably NX, SolidWorks and ANSYS
  • Preferably experience with characterization
  • Result driven, High-quality standards, flexible and pragmatic
  • Able to work independently, proactive and have an open and creative approach.
  • Up to date on the latest developments in- and outside Signify.
