This is a fundamental role in the Liberty Global delivery chain ensuring we release quality products and services across our operating companies in what is an increasingly complex product and service ecosystem where the Testing organisation is held accountable for the validation of services prior to launch.

The primary purpose of the Senior Product Certification & Delivery Manager position is to lead a team of test engineers and partnerships to deliver the testing of new and existing Connectivity & Entertainment products for Liberty Global and all its operating companies including disposed operating companies where we have ongoing delivery obligations.

This role coordinates testing across all workstreams including functional connectivity, CPE Security, CPE Hardware, WiFi Performance & Interoperability testing.

This therefore covers testing across all of the Liberty Global central product roadmap Consumer Connectivity & Consumer Entertainment & B2B.

The individual must ensure that the test schedule can support the roadmap delivery commitments across all workstreams and deliver to that plan whilst managing the day to day flux in the schedule resulting from changing business priorities, the availability of product to test from internal and external suppliers and the quality of product tested.

This role requires direct day-to-day remote and on-site contact with numerous multi level stakeholders and the team within the company as well as international 3rd party suppliers and interaction and engagement with Operating Companies.

There will be a high degree of strategic planning and management deliverables within the role, along with key project deliverables and reporting.

Responsibilities will include :

  • Oversee the Creation, constant improvement and management of the design of Test Plans, i.e. Test Scopes and Test Strategies for relevant products and components
  • Management of the assessment, design and delivery of Test Resources and Test Scopes for appropriate Connectivity and linked Test Campaigns
  • Management and oversight of the execution of Test Campaigns, both in summary and detail where required, with both technical and process / quality focus, for the multiple Internal and 3rd Party complex workstreams and provide regular mgt progress reports.
  • Leading the team and providing motivation and successful team engagement that drives a sense a urgency and productivity whilst maintaining a high degree of focus on customer experience and quality.
  • Close management, in a matrix technical environment with upstream engineering teams and vendors and downstream deployment teams in Defect Triage from detailed investigation to resolution and retest.
  • Manage a successful feedback loop and review process that ensure continuous improvement of our test cases and execution framework including tools and processes with support from the Testing Central Services team.
  • Manage the delivery of, and maintenance of the quality of Test Exit Reports, including the handover engagements with stakeholders.
  • Ensure key performance indicators are met and defined with constant improvement plans with support from peers in other dept’s and across the Testing team.
  • Support and prepare Launch Go / NoGo Decisions with key Stakeholders
  • Ownership of Connectivity Test Management Change Requests and introduction / improvements / enhancements to existing test and team capabilities to allow for / enable research, test development, New Product / Feature integrations and testing (in all phases) of new products and services changes
  • Manage and participate in the review, design, creation and on-going maintenance of Connectivity Test Cases (including test case life cycle) and additions to those test libraries
  • Management of the alignment of Test Scopes to technologies, capabilities and customer needs and requirements on an going basis, including appropriate test environments
  • Manage the Product(s) Testing Roadmaps and appropriate reports generation
  • Review Technical Field Trial Reports and In life faults data and apply corrective action to ensure lessons are learnt for future successful testing
  • Management oversight of test workstreams and resources with some task prioritisation
  • Point of contact for Key Stakeholders and accurate communications to Product & Delivery Programme teams.
  • Management of the creation and management of Test Assessment & Sizing, Test Plans, Test Campaign Execution, Test Exit Reports, resourcing, scheduling, testing escalations and quality within assigned areas
  • Drive automation of testing and certification processes and regression test plans within Connectivity Service Testing while working closely with other workstreams that influence the delivery of testing
  • Manage and support elements of activities and efficiency of on-shore and off-shore testing with our business partners to increase efficiency and reduce costs for testing.
  • Preferred qualifications / experience :

  • Ideally a Degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant engineering or associated discipline.
  • Employment (5+ years) in a management position within technical / engineering / operational / integration or test management with either a Service Provider, Telecoms Supplier / Vendor or in a Technology Consultancy.
  • A knowledge of product testing environments and the E2E delivery chain including both SW & HW testing.
  • Knowledge of embedded SW (particularly on CPE, Cable Modems & STB)
  • Knowledge of test automation practices and scripting approaches
  • Understanding of certification testing methodology and approach. ISTQB would be a positive.
  • A strong technical knowledge of operational requirements within a service provider environment.
  • Previous if not current subject matter expert / authority in a particular relevant area of technology to the role.
  • Fluent English speaker, ideally with other European languages.

  • Commercially aware with financial management experience in budgeting, planning and reporting
  • Experience of using testing tools and frameworks.
  • Previous participation and experience in Testing Automation
  • Self-motivated with the ability to continually self-monitor & develop in a global matrix working environment
  • Must be a highly successful Technical manager managing technical teams, and proactive in the working environment; proven successful ability to work with speed and accuracy to deadlines is essential
  • Must be prepared to travel, with overnight stays, to multiple European and UK offices.
