Agile Coach Tech Infra

The Agile Coach (AC) in Tech Infra will be an evangelist of the Agile Way of Working and will assist and coach on the implementation of it.

The AC shapes the further development and implementation of the Agile Way of Working so that it can be used in the organization and will lead to continuous improvement.

The Agile Coach promotes the culture appropriate to the Agile Way of Working and is the figurehead of the associated behaviour.

She or he is able to engage people by using clear communication, giving and receiving constructive feedback (at the team as well as management level), understanding and simplifying complex issues, and contributing to the desired culture change.

As a team coach, the AC contributes to the development of high-performing teams that are capable of continuous improvement and adding value for customers and the organization.

Advises and support (design of) processes to supporting Squads and Tribes to improve (cross) Tribe communication and cooperation.

Advises Tribe on the maturity level of the Agile Way of Working and the development of team performance. Provides coaching for members of the management team in Agile leadership.

Activities and Responsibilities

  • As an Agile Coach, your main goal will be to coach the Tribe Leadership (Tribe Lead, IT area Lead and Chapter leads) and to coach DevOps squads.
  • Introducing and continuously improving the way of working according to ING’s One Agile Way of Working;
  • You are the voice that constantly reminds the squads that we deliver to our customers and they are the reason we work for ING;
  • You (re-)introduce ING’s One Agile Way of Working for example through boot camps, workshops and on-the-job training;
  • You take care of clarifying the roles within the model and the cooperation of the cross-Tribe roles;
  • You regularly facilitate Agile events for DevOps squads such as daily Stand Up, review, retrospective, refinement, planning and ensure continuous improvement in the quality of these events if the team needs the assistance;
  • You regularly facilitate Agile events for Tribe Leadership like Quarterly Business Review (QBR) session, QBR marketplace, portfolio wall standup and ensure continuous improvement in the quality of these events;
  • You support the Tribe Leadership to make use of their Obeya room more effectively;
  • You regularly facilitate Agile events for DevOps squads such as daily Stand Up, review, retrospective, refinement, planning and ensure continuous improvement in the quality of these events if the team needs the assistance;
  • You coach the DevOps squads both as a group and as individuals on behaviour. Look at their maturity, help them to continuously improve themselves and grow towards high performing squads.
  • You ensure that the DevOps squads are aware of their responsibilities and most important Agile concepts. You support DevOps squads in refining their purpose and translating this to feasible Epics, Features and User Stories by using a Definition of Ready and Definition of Done
  • You facilitate close alignment and regularly contact moments between DevOps squads and at the same time coach the PO’s and Scrum Masters to take over such facilitating tasks
  • You coach DevOps squads and especially PO’s with building a regular dialogue with their customers;
  • Challenges

  • You help the DevOps squads to solve impediments or to place them on the right spot.
  • You build trust, dare to point out the bottlenecks and contribute to find solutions. You will help the people to get the best out of themselves.
  • Ensure a permanent behavioural change.
  • Be recognized as a trusted advisor and conversation partner by your leaders and squads.
  • Be recognized as an evangelist of the OAWOW by the Tech Infra organisation.
  • Preferred qualifications

  • Experience working with infrastructure teams using Kanban, Scrum or similar.
  • Experience building customer-facing products that inspire and delight.
  • Tenacity, diplomacy, and a sense of humour.
  • A love of reading and a desire to improve the life and work of others.
  • A Bachelor or Master Degree.
  • At least 4 years’ experience coaching not only teams but also leadership.
  • Have an Agile Mindset.
  • Technical background (ex-Software developer, ex-Technical Lead, etc).
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
