Senior Trader Cocoa / Sugar
Based in Amsterdam
As our Sr. Trader Cocoa / Sugar you are the linking pin between our suppliers, key customers and our commercial team. You are responsible for the trading activities and commercial performance of your products.
You take commercial positions and coordinates activities with our regional sales offices and USA branch office. Next to that the Sr.
Trader Cocoa / Sugar is responsible for co-managing trading book, position’s exposure and futures’ account. Your high energy, drive, creativity and outstanding communication skills will be prevailing to further develop the business to achieve continued growth of the business.
The Sr. Trader will work at our CSO desk , which consists of the categories Sugars, Cocoa and Coconut derivatives (especially sugar and oil).
Your responsibilities and objectives :
Co-ordinate contacts, provide pricing updates, market reports, etc. with regional sales offices (US, UK, France, Germany, CEE)
Oversee the product complaint handling and ensure optimal customer satisfaction
Co-oversee the sourcing, purchase and sales of the products
Participate in setting budgets for cocoa / sugar products
Keep track of international market developments and actively seeks new trade opportunities and product developments
Understand and update the cocoa position and trading book in order to keep the exposure risk at an acceptable level
Contacts regularly the company’s broker at the ICE cocoa exchange
Keeps track of the results and suggests appropriate corrective action plans
Ensure suppliers meet vendor approval criteria in alignment with the Quality Assurance Manager
Visit customers / suppliers regularly; participates relevant assemblies / trade shows
Contribute to a smooth cooperation with the supporting disciplines
Regular update of sales / purchasing policy communicated to the sales teams in NL and abroad Contribute to the further structuring of the Business Unit
Job requirements
Minimum : Bachelor degree in commerce / international trade, Agricultural diploma is a big plus
5+ years of experience in a comparable function
Affinity with ingredients or agricultural commodities
Strong written and verbal skills, ability to concisely communicate with all levels of the organization and its executive teams
Experience in an import / export environment and successful customer service experience
Up to date relevant legal knowledge (trade and liability related)
Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
Stress resistance and flexibility, prioritization skills and decisiveness
Proficiency in the English language (in writing and verbally) is a must, at least communicative in Spanish; command of Dutch, German or other languages are a plus
IT affinity : advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office programs. Experience with ERP systems (working knowledge of Axapta is a plus) and the organic industry are a plus
