KeyResponsibilities : ProductManagement

ProductManagement

  • Managesaspects of the product lifecycle enabling the product to meet theneeds of customers / users and achieve financial or othertargets.
  • Acts as product owner for one or morelower-value products or services; prioritises product requirementsand owns a product backlog.
  • Analyses marketand / or user research, feedback, expert opinion and usage data tounderstand needs and opportunities.
  • Facilitatesuptake of products by planning development of product collateral,supporting and evaluating campaigns, and monitoring productperformance.
  • Rolls out product trials andproductlaunches.
  • Research

  • Within given researchgoals, builds on and refines appropriate outline ideas forresearch, including evaluation, development, demonstration andimplementation.
  • Applies standard methods tocollect and analyse quantitative and qualitativedata.
  • Creates research reports to communicateresearch methodology and findings and conclusions. Contributessections of material of publicationquality.
  • Uses available resources to updateknowledge of any relevant field and curates a personal collectionof relevant material.
  • Participates in researchcommunities.

    ProjectManagement

  • Defines,documents and carries out small projects or sub-projects (typicallyless than six months, with limited budget, limitedinterdependency with other projects, and no significant strategicimpact), alone or with a small team, actively participating in allphases.
  • Identifies, assesses and manages risksto the success of the project.
  • Appliesappropriate project management methods and tools whether predictive(plan-driven) approaches or adaptive (iterative / agile)approaches.
  • Agrees project approach withstakeholders, and prepares realistic plans (including quality, riskand communications plans) and tracks activities against the projectschedule, managing stakeholder involvement asappropriate.
  • Monitors costs, timescales andresources used, and takes action where these deviate from agreedtolerances.
  • Ensures that own projects areformally closed and, where appropriate, subsequently reviewed, andthat lessons learned arerecorded.
  • Portfolio,Program & projectSupport

  • Takesresponsibility for the provision of support services toprojects.
  • Uses and recommends project controlsolutions for planning, scheduling and trackingprojects.
  • Sets up and provides detailedguidance on project management software, procedures, processes,tools and techniques.
  • Supports programme orproject control boards, project assurance teams and quality reviewmeetings. Provides basic guidance on individual projectproposals.
  • May be involved in aspects ofsupporting a programme by providing a cross programme view on risk,change, quality, finance or configurationmanagement.
  • BusinessAnalysis

  • Investigatesoperational requirements, problems, and opportunities, seekingeffective business solutions through improvements in automated andnon-
  • automated components of new or changedprocesses.

  • Assists in the analysis ofstakeholder objectives, and the underlying issues arising frominvestigations into business requirements and problems, andidentifies options for consideration.
  • Workswith stakeholders, to identify potential benefits and availableoptions for consideration, and in defining acceptancetests.
  • Contributes to selection of the businessanalysis methods, tools and techniques for projects; selectingappropriately from predictive (plan-
  • driven) approaches or adaptive(iterative / agile)approaches.

    Requirementsdefinition andmanagement

  • Contributesto selection of the requirements approach for projects, selectingappropriately from predictive (plan-driven) approaches or adaptive(iterative / agile) approaches.
  • Defines andmanages scoping, requirements definition and prioritisationactivities for initiatives of medium size andcomplexity.
  • Facilitates input fromstakeholders, provides constructive challenge and enableseffective prioritisation of requirements.
  • Reviewsrequirements for errors andomissions.

  • Establishes the requirementsbase-lines, obtains formal agreement to requirements, and ensurestraceability to source.
  • Investigates, manages,and applies authorised requests for changes to base-linedrequirements, in line with change managementpolicy.
  • Testing

  • Coordinatesand manages planning of the system and / or acceptancetests, including software security testing, within adevelopment or integration project orprogramme.
  • Takes responsibility for integrityof testing and acceptance activities and coordinates the executionof these activities.
  • Provides authoritativeadvice and guidance on any aspect of test planning andexecution.
  • Defines and communicates the teststrategy for the project.
  • Manages all testprocesses, including test plans, resources, costs, timescales, testdeliverables and traceability.
  • Manages clientrelationships with respect to testing matters. Identifies processimprovements, and contributes to corporate testing standards anddefinition of bestpractice.
  • ChangeManagement

    Assesses, analyses,develops, documents and implements changes based on requests forchange.

    Releaseand deploymentmanagement

  • Assesses andanalyses release components.
  • Provides input toscheduling. Carries out the builds and tests in coordination withtesters and component specialists maintaining and administering thetools and methods manual or automatic -
  • and ensuring,where possible, information exchange with configurationmanagement.

  • Ensures release processes andprocedures aremaintained.
  • PeopleManagement / ResourceManagement

  • Is involved in recruiting process andproposes support for hiring decision and pre-selection ofcandidates
  • Allocate the differentwork to the respective employees considering experience,complexity, workload and organizationalefficiency
  • Continuously monitor and evaluateteam workload and organizational efficiency with the support of ITsystems, data and analysis and team feedback and make appropriatechanges to meet businessneeds.
  • Provide teammembers / direct reports with clear direction and targets that arealigned with business needs and GITobjectives
