M Moser Associates is seeking an experienced experienced workplace Technical Designer, to join our growing team in Amsterdam.

The role will involve working across a range of exciting new European projects.

Job overview

As an integral member of the project team, the role of Technical Designer will involve generating ideas and advising internal teams / clients on technical design considerations throughout the entire lifecycle of complex workplace projects.

Your expert technical knowledge and skills will enable successful project outcomes within the design development stage and beyond.

You will become the go-to person for high-level technical and computer design skills, turning ideas into reality. Working closely with designers throughout test fit, concept, design development, and construction documentation, you will ensure design integrity is maintained throughout.

This position is based in Amsterdam but will have an element of travel as reasonably appropriate to the role.

To be successful in this role, you will be a team player who is motivated by exceeding client and team expectations. You will be excited to mentor junior staff and share your technical project coordination expertise.

Key responsibilities

  • Partner with Lead Designers and other colleagues to troubleshoot and provide technical solutions to design challenges.
  • Review and approve engineering and MEP consultants’ work to ensure it complies with design solutions and timely submission of documents.
  • Respond to RFIs.
  • Attend site surveys with Due Diligence team.
  • Ensure adherence to set budget and inform the Project Manager and Lead Designer of any potential variances.
  • Execute and oversee drawings for tender, drawing detailing and construction documentation
  • Create a master log of project submittals.
  • Ensure design complies with applicable building codes and standards, helping other designers to take into account these considerations during design phases.
  • Problem-solving design issues with the team.
  • Provide ad hoc design support to the team as required.
  • Qualifications and key competancies

  • 5+ years of experience working in workplace design and / or architecture in a similar role.
  • Relevant degree in architecture, construction or engineering.
  • Practical experience within the construction industry.
  • Portfolio that showcases recent and relevant work.
  • Ability to quickly translate workplace concepts using advanced skills in AutoCAD, Revit, Sketchup and MS Office.
  • Clear and concise communication in English and Dutch, both verbally and in writing. Additional languages are a plus.
  • Good understanding of Dutch building codes and regulations. Any knowledge of other EU building regulations is a plus.
  • Ability to manage and coordinate all phases of design documentation and support the Project Manager with any design changes during the construction stage.
  • Big picture perspective in developing holistic strategies geared toward design deliverables.
  • Strong architectural design and planning skills.
  • Great time management and sense of responsibility.
  • Team player that is comfortable operating independently.
