As a Financial Economic Crime Investigator you play a key role in hunting and catching the bad guys by analysing and investigating potentially unusual, high risky transactions / entities involved in money laundering, terrorism financing, criminal activities, etc.
This is an evolving journey as an investigator; at the beginning, you will be heavily involved in developing an in-house advanced analytics anti-money laundering platform with some world-class data scientists in the Wholesale Banking Advanced Analytics team, to create the tool for detecting and investigating unusual / suspicious transaction behaviour.
Afterwards, you will be able to use this platform for deep-dive investigations.
For the investigations, you report the conclusion of your research and consideration thoroughly motivating why you define the transaction as an unusual / suspicious transaction.
Your conclusions are then reviewed and validated by other expert functions in the bank. Depending on your expertise level and interest, you will also contribute to sharpening of the advanced analytics model and overall to the development of the anti-money laundering platform.

What will you be doing?
Manage unusual / suspicious activity case work in a timely and efficient manner. Execute a variety of tasks in support of the conduct of investigations.
Perform an investigation of all high risky entities flagged by advanced analytics based anti-money laundering system to determine whether transactions identified qualify as suspicious activity.
Summarize, in writing, suspicious activity for advanced investigation / validation.
Escalate cases and issues as appropriate for advanced investigation and analysis.
Build and maintain awareness of the broader context and implications of the various types of risk affecting the business (e.
g., financial, legal, reputation, etc.)
Assist with filing of Suspicious Activity Reports
Collaborate across AML functions / Lines of Business (LOBs) and serve as an AML subject matter expert
Coach less experienced colleagues
As a Hunter (Financial Economic Crime Analyst / Investigator) you will need :
Bachelor / Master level, preferably in the economic or legal field, such as legal services or MER (Management Economics and Law), Criminology, business economics or business administration, political science or other related fields;
Minimum of 2 years of experience in AML- fraud detection and investigation techniques, Transaction Monitoring, or other banking and / or regulatory affairs : Know Your Customer, (e.
g. Financial Economic Crime), fiscal transparency and reporting (e.g. FATCA, Qualified Intermediary, Common Reporting Standards, Ultimate Beneficial Owner);
Minimum 3 - 5 years overall experience in bank operations and regulations (cross bank regulations, general banking processes, regulatory reporting, risk policies etc.)
Experience in preparing appropriate documentation of investigation performed;
Big plus : Ability to deep-dive the data using SQL and / or Python / R;
Big plus : Experience in financial economic crime prevention / investigation (law-enforcement, government, etc.)
Big plus : strong understanding in payment / transaction analysis; knowledge about SWIFT data / messages;
Reading and understanding of Annual Reports;
Curious, quick learner : functional (AML, KYC, Fraud) and / or technical (SQL, Python / R)
Strong analytical skills, being creative and critical where you can make strong connections and draw conclusions on appropriateness of the business structure of a customer, business activities and cash flows;
Organized and structured, attention to detail, ability to process and understand large amounts of data;
Driven and customer focused, loving to collaborate with different people; strong communication skills;
Problem analysis and judgement (recognizing important information, identifying problems, researching and making connections)
Excellent knowledge of English (working language as well oral as written); fluency in other European languages is an advantage;
