About the team
At Thales there are many teams that develop simulators for their sub-systems. Within detailed virtual worlds they mirror the characteristics and behavior of radars, cannons, missiles and much more.
Initially the commonalities between these simulators, such as video streams and supporting frameworks, are coordinated and developed within our team.
Later, when teams start developing fully fledge simulators, a wider coordination is needed. The world of creating simulators is very much like building virtual worlds in computer games, but from the ground up with may interesting technical challenges in relation to hardware choices, software solutions, sub-systems, performance, etc.
The end goal is to allow Thales to test the systems and offer realistic virtual training worlds for the end-user within our TACTICOS product.
TACTICOS is a software product that runs on tactical displays on-board naval vessels such as full-size frigates and destroyers.
It provides situational awareness to naval vessels during a wide range of mission packages, allowing them to interpret their surroundings (up to hundreds of kilometers away) and to respond as needed.
These missions range from humanitarian assistance during earthquakes to combatting piracy and drug smuggling, military engagements and more.
TACTICOS technology is used on board more than ships operated by 25 navies worldwide. Learn more about TACTICOS here : information / computer science or similar with a talent for Java.
