Genmab is currently seeking a (Senior) Data Scientist for Early Discovery Research to be based at the Zeist office in the Netherlands, for a highly collaborative role between Data Science, New Antibody Products Research and the Antibody Research and Technology team.
You will work in a multidisciplinary, international team of world-class scientists with state-of-the-art knowledge of the antibody and oncology field.
The goal is to transform how antibody therapeutics are discovered and optimized using a highly integrated combination of wet lab, computational biology, and bioinformatics approaches.
As a highly independent computational scientist you will contribute to innovative projects in early stage research, with the freedom to explore and implement cutting-edge technologies in which to discover and act on new cancer drug targets.
This role is focused on identifying new approaches to match Genmab’s innovative antibody drug platforms.

As a (Senior) Data Scientist in the Discovery Data Science team, you will get the unique opportunity to make a large impact on the development of ground-breaking new medicines to serve cancer patients with high unmet medical needs.

You will lead multiple efforts to identify new opportunities for matching new antibody drug approaches to oncology targets.
You work independently, formulating next steps and drive project teams forward.
You are well-aware of the biological context of projects and can provide biological interpretations of your results to teams with diverse scientific backgrounds.
You lead relevant projects, both in house as well as outsourced to service providers.
You demonstrate ownership of your projects and collaborations, becoming the main point of contact for all projects that occur within your purview.
You are responsible for the visualization of complex data, reducing complex problems into intuitive explanations that can be presented to a diverse scientific audience.
You play a pivotal role in prototyping and guiding the development and expansion of cutting-edge bioinformatics and computational tools and pipelines to support your work and the organization in general.
You develop a long-term vision that anticipates emerging organizational needs and act to translate that into an array of technology evaluation pilots, external partnerships, and workstreams to advance discovery research and find new cancer and immune-oncology targets.
You report scientific results in patents, publications, and regulatory documents.
You hold a PhD degree in biology, bioinformatics, or computational biology / immunology field.
2 years or more experience from a similar position within industry or as a postdoctoral researcher.
You have a strong biology background, preferably in immunology, oncology and / or (antibody) drug development. Experience with antibody therapeutics is a plus.
You have experience with state-of-the art genomic technologies, such as single cell sequencing technologies, proteomics, DNA sequencing and others.
You have good programming skills (preferably with R) and are experienced in using cloud services for storage and computing.
You have formal training in or extensive experience with applied statistics, modeling, and machine learning.
You are creative, pro-active, enthusiastic, out-of-the-box thinking, and goal orientated with a strong ability to work independently.
You are a skilled communicator who can work in teams with diverse professional backgrounds and can liaise between the worlds of computational biology and basic biology.
You have published in high quality journals, references, and external presentations.
