Professor (50 %) in Painting at the Art Academy - Department of Contemporary Art

At the Art Academy - Department of Contemporary Art, there is a vacancy for a position as professor (50%) in painting. The position is available from 1. August 2022.

Work tasks / research field :

We are seeking a visionary and collaborative professor in Painting.

The candidate will, in close collaboration with colleagues, contribute to developing the profile of this focus area in the department.

Our new Professor will be responsible for teaching at all levels in the area of painting and must also be able to supervise all levels (BA, MA and PhD).

The teaching should be based on firm knowledge of contemporary art in general, as well as the history and the techniques of painting.

Our new Professor shall also participate in the development of curricula. The candidate is expected to demonstrate a commitment to various teaching methods, enabling students to progress in diverse artistic practices.

Work tasks :

Teaching and supervision

Responsibility for learning activities

Artistic research, including project development and management

Active participation in the research environment of department and faculty

Main supervisor for BA, MA and PhD students

Recruitment of BA, MA and PhD students Research dissemination

Administration and organization, e.g., participation in boards and committees

Qualifications and personal qualities :

Extensive artistic activities at the highest international level, with relevant breadth and specialization.

Good insight into contemporary art and recent theoretical discourse in the field

The teaching language is Scandinavian or English. The successful applicant must be able to teach in Norwegian or another Scandinavian language within two years of being appointed.

The applicants’ academic competence will be assessed by an expert committee. The best qualified applicants will be called in for interview and a trial lecture by an internal interview Committee.

Salary at pay grade 79 - 81 (code 1013) in the Norwegian state's salary scale. This currently amounts to an annual salary of NOK 792.

700 840.900 before taxes for a full-time position. A higher salary may be considered for a particularly well qualified applicant.

Enrolment in the Norwegian Public Service Pension Fund
