Job Description

Your contribution to something big

  • You are responsible for the mechanical product architecture for security video cameras;
  • You will work on translating product requirements into mechanical concepts in a multidisciplinary and cross-site team, taking quality as a main driver;
  • You perform break down of system level requirements into lower level / subsystem requirements;
  • You analyse customer requirements and ensure that they are realistic and feasible to be implemented, creating a viable product from scratch and ready to be industrialized;
  • You safeguard functionality, performance, quality, reliability and manufacturability of products;
  • You are able to define the necessary test procedures to verify and validate design;
  • As a Senior member of the team, you should keep an helicopter view of the mechanical systems, review concepts and provide feedback within your area of expertise;
  • You should also be responsible to coach and guide younger team members and support the team with complex problems.
  • Tasks and responsibilities

  • The mechanical architect has the responsibility of defining and specifying the mechanical architecture of communication systems in a modular, easy to maintain and extendible components and modules to a level that it could be realized by the project teams;
  • To create the product & test specifications and supporting the engineers in the realization of mechanical product design and the testing process which meets the requirements and regulations;
  • To create new concepts based on theoretical calculations, proven technology or with prototypes and presents them to stakeholders to support in making the right decisions based on risk management;
  • To be a supervisor and coach and provides technical advice to the other mechanical engineers in the team (on-site or off-site);
  • Able to estimate the development effort and the product costs and capable to commit to product costs and planning of the mechanical activities in a project;
  • Identifying technology innovations suitable for the business and contributes to the roadmap of communication systems;
  • The Mechanical Architect takes the role of a Lead Engineer in the project.
  • Mechanical Team

  • The Mechanical team consists of 3 Mechanical Engineers (3x male) and 1 mechanical test engineer (1x male) which all work on dedicated projects consisting of 2-5 mechanical engineers per project;
  • The team has to work together with other disciplines in the projects (mostly electronics) which can be on-site in Eindhoven or off-site (e.g. Portugal, China);
  • Starts with the concepts of the architect and converts these into technical solutions and functional samples. The next step is creating the technical product documentations from which production samples are made.
  • These samples are used in the Bosch manufacturing plant to assembly complete products. The final step is to release all parts for production.

  • All steps are supervised by the architect;
  • Besides their project activities the Mechanical team has to support on maintenance activities;
  • To perform the testing activities required for the project;
  • The Mechanical team reports to the Mechanical Group Leader and have a bi-weekly face-to-face meeting.
  • Need-to-have's :

  • Bachelor or Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering;
  • At least (approx. 10 years) in development of complex products;
  • Strong communication skills in English is required;
  • Ability to make quick technical decisions while keeping the business impact in mind;
  • You are familiar with state-of-the-art development techniques and CAD (preferably CREO);
  • You are able to prove the design by means of calculations and simulations;
  • Experienced in common manufacturing processes such as : sheet metal, plastic injection molding, machining, die casting, etc.
  • of miniaturized parts;
  • Necessary knowledge on coatings and surface treatments;
  • You have participated in continuous improvement projects within your team.

  • Experienced problem solver within complex system;
  • You are pro-active and has good social skills;
  • Skilled in stakeholder management.
