The person in this position will directly manage engineering and construction projects of all sizes at the Company’s Moerdijk plant facility as well as troubleshooting of production processes as required.
The plant engineer will report on a functional basis to the Director of Global Engineering in the US, and will report on a daily operational basis to the Site Manager of the Plant.
Will manage and execute projects agreed to by management with urgency and diligence. This includes formal documentation for all projects, aggressive management of vendors and internal resources in order to achieve deadlines.
Identifies, tracks and prioritizes projects in a way that reflects the goals of the department and the company.
Oversees all engineering activities and assures that global engineering practices are applied.
Assists in developing and maintaining a maintenance management system to assure the desired availability of the operational equipment on site.
Will be able to think logically and take independent action / communicate with other employees without supervisory assistance.
This includes, but is not limited to, knowing when a problem needs to be taken to the next level or when cross functional collaboration is required.
Will act to generate multiple solution options and make principled recommendations when faced with a problem that must be kicked up the chain of command.
Is cost conscious, using the most economical solutions to solve problems.
Performance Measures :
Lead engineering projects to successful completion on time and on budget using aggressive goals for all performance measures, including safety, environmental, quality, cost and schedule.
Organize projects and determine in house and outside resources required.
Provide project scope, description, economics, layouts, PI&D, equipment list, and cost estimate for each project.Assess capabilities of vendors and contractors.
Manage vendor and contractor performance across all deliverables (quality, schedule, cost, etc.), anticipating and resolving problems before they occur through proper planning, communication and team leadership.
Resolve construction or project issues promptly and economically.
Assists in improving manufacturing productivity through equipment availability, improved material handling and better energy efficiency.
Start up new or improved processes in the plant.
Assists in designing and implementing a maintenance management system.
Performs all other duties as assigned.
Master or Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering (preferred) or Mechanical Engineering with a chemical plant experience is required.
Ten years experience in chemical manufacturing / pilot plant environment. Prior experience designing and constructing new plants or major expansions and start ups a major plus.
Excellent English, Dutch and German communication skills.
Works as a project manager and team leader to execute engineering projects and achieve operating and financial results. Responsible for leading and motivating cross functional teams to achieve these objectives.
Refers complex problems with solution recommendations to management for final resolution. May supervise one to three hourly employees based on the project.
