Financial Risk Management is responsible for developing and maintaining the global framework for measuring and managing financial risks in the company.

The FRM department provides financial subject matter expertise to the CFO and CRO for financial risk focused items, such as :

  • Measurement and monitoring of financial risk ALM and hedging initiatives; Design of methodology, in particular financial risk aspects of Economic Framework and Solvency II;
  • Implementation of methodology, for example calibration of market risk shocks and production of ESG files; Maintenance of financial risk aspects of the ERM Framework and setting risk strategy.

    You will provide global expertise in Asset Liability Management and to support the wider financial risk aspects of the ERM Framework.

    Your responsibility is to enhance ALM and to embed the ALM standards of practice. You will directly support new ALM initiative and will have oversight of existing ALM practices.

    You will Play a leading role in the global ALM community across the Aegon Group. Furthermore, you will Actively participate in ALM conferences / events, facilitate knowledge and best practice sharing across the global organization.

    By supporting the reporting function in Group Risk with respect to financial risk matters and M&A activities, you will be an advisor for our CRO and CFO.

    You will report directly to the global head of ALM.


    As Sr. Financial Risk Officer you are an experienced and competent sparring partner for the various stakeholders. You are able to test solutions and to sharpen things up.

    You formulate and substantiate your advice and insights carefully. You also have an excellent sense of relationships and you enjoy working together with others.

    Finally you pay attention to quality and you are proactive in your approach.

  • Completed Master’s degree in econometrics, physics mathematics or actuarial.
  • An expert with 15 years’ experience of which 10 in Financial Risk Management.
  • Technical experience in investment and mismatch risk management, derivatives and hedging
  • Proven influencing and relationship management skills
  • Very strong communication skills with ability to communicate technical topics to non-technical stakeholders
  • Expertise in complex hedging & performance reporting
  • Integrity to uphold risk management principals and mandates
  • Demonstrable and strong problem solving and decision making skills
  • Able to challenge conventional practices and pursue continuous improvement
  • Strong planning, prioritizing and goal setting skills
  • Experience in an international corporate setting desirable
  • Excellent knowledge of the English language in speech and writing.
  • Persistent, convincing, decisive, initiative-oriented, solution-oriented and organization-conscious.
  • Connecting and focused on cooperation.
  • Works in a structured way, is able to structure and to keep an overview of a complex domain and a large range of tasks.
  • Able to analyze complex problems.
