Job Description

The Business Unit Manager for Blood Collection in the Netherlands will be responsible for the operations of 2 laboratories receiving samples from 35 sampling stations all across the country, set to grow by over 100 from ongoing projects and acquisitions.

To be successful, they must create a strict environment maximising output, implementing operational excellence initiatives, and controlling operational costs.

General Management

  • Lead according to Eurofins Leadership Charter and act as a role model for leadership and staff. Eurofins leadership principles give a very large degree of autonomy to each business’ leader (within agreed upon financial and operational performance measures).
  • Foster an environment which stimulates open communication, creativity and imagination, and engenders a team spirit in problem-solving and identifying, capturing new business opportunities.
  • Operations

  • Increase operational effectiveness, productivity, and bottom-line results by implementing best-in-class processes and metrics.
  • Streamline operations and make good use of IT to massively improve efficiency.
  • Analyze operating results and their principal components relative to established objectives. Ensure the soundness of the business’ financial structure.
  • Take appropriate steps for corrective action as required.

  • Overall responsibility for quality of service and compliance with all legal and contractual obligations in all businesses of his / her scope.
  • Set up appropriate control mechanisms to detect any relevant deviation.

  • Responsible for turnaround and change management.
  • Take appropriate measures to improve economic profit, including hands-on personal commitment in addressing situations where profit levels are too low.
  • People

  • Implement strong performance management and team development processes along group recommendations and using group tools when available.
  • Assess current talent and ensure that there is a highly committed and capable team in place
  • Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years working experience in high-volume, low margin industries.
  • Proven leadership and operational improvement experience.
  • Previous experience in a small / mid-size company.
  • A successful, fast-track career with clear progression that has not yet reached its full potential.
  • Education

  • Undergraduate or Master’s degree in the area of, Engineering, Chemistry, or Life Sciences
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Native or fluent written and spoken Dutch is a must.
  • A hands-on attitude with an excellent understanding of financial matters.
