Within our European team we are currently looking to recruit a Solution Sales Manager who is responsible for new business of a specific solution portfolio across the corporate segment in DACH, including global key accounts.

We are looking for a strong sales person with experience in a scientific world and who is eager to release the potential for new business in this market and linking thorough understanding of client needs to our solutions.

Focus of the position

As a Solution Sales Manager (SSM) in Life Sciences Solutions, you will focus on pre-clinical, clinical and post-market surveillance departments of clients.

In this role you are responsible for driving new business (new customers and cross-sell). You will be selling scientific databases, value-adding tools and projects into corporate accounts in the DACH region.

To be successful in this role you will work closely together with the Customer Consultants in the team (to ensure adequate implementation and adoption of the solution at the client) and with the Account Managers (to transition the account after closing the sale).

You will report to the Regional Solutions Sales Director Mature Europe, based in Amsterdam. This position can be based in the Netherlands or Germany.

Your responsibilities

Achievement of new-sales, including expansion sales (upsell), revenue growth targets of the Life Sciences Risk and Discovery portfolio in the territory

Creation of and execution on the Life Sciences territory sales plan. Align territory and account solution portfolio plan with overarching territory / account plan

Collaborate with regional sales teams to develop targeted sales plans for each region and the execution of these plans

Develop a strong understanding of competitor landscape and be able to successfully position against these

Develop a deep understanding of the relevant customer segment the solutions are sold into, translating the solution value to be segment specific

Successful transition of ownership of the account / agreement to Account Manager & Customer Consultant, ensuring total growth on total base of the portfolio

Key expert on specific research workflows, being able to bring global references to customers in territory

Stay abreast of development in field and market segment, and share with Elsevier

Provide continuous feedback to product and marketing teams and participate in projects to help marketing in meeting strategic sales objectives.

Channel feedback to the Product organization for continued product enhancement and new development needs, including for customized solutions

Essential criteria

University degree, in Life Sciences, Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry, Medicine or related study

Experience in a Life Sciences environment

Fluency in English and German

Desired criteria

Minimum of 5 years’ proven sales track record in selling Software Solutions / tools in a Life Science environment, Technology, Pharma or Software environment

Proven experience in complex solution-sales approach - consultative selling

Excellent analytical and presentation skills

  • Strong communication (verbal and written) and presentation skills;
  • Experienced in working in an international matrix organization

    A passion for closing deals and new business

    In non-pandemic times, this job requires frequent travelling to diverse locations within your territory (50%).
