Within DEMCON Unmanned Systems, we are constantly looking for new ways to innovate and make our mobile robotic systems even smarter.
Mechanical Engineering plays a crucial part in these efforts and especially the control of semi-autonomous unmanned vehicles.
As example, a robust reference trajectory generator is required for robust and reliable operations. This trajectory generator must compute a trajectory that is dynamically feasible for the vehicle at hand.
Subsequently, the vehicle’s control systems will take care of tracking the given reference trajectory. The requirement of dynamic feasibility becomes especially important when dealing with non-
holonomic vehicles, like marine vessels (USV’s) and ground rovers (UGV’s).
In your internship you will be working on the development of such a trajectory generator. Your task will be to make the trajectory generator capable of generating feasible semi-
continuous reference signals for the position-controller of the vehicle, by taking the dynamic capabilities of the vehicle into account, mitigating corner cutting.
You can make use of user-defined vehicle waypoints as input to realize robust semi-autonomous motion of an unmanned vehicle.
By the end of the assignment, the Trajectory Generator’s algorithm must be developed in such a way that imposing extra environmental constraints is possible, e.
g. including an occupancy grid / no-go zones.
