Arcadis has an immediate need for a Staff Electrical Engineer , with an interest in designing electrical systems and managing tasks and junior staff, to join our South Region Water Team (Tampa, Atlanta, Maitland, Miami, Raleigh, Greensboro).

Using your technical capabilities and collaborating with our experienced team of professionals, you will provide technical and design consulting services with a focus on electrical power distribution, lighting, communications, security, fire detection and monitoring and control system designs to support projects for the Water and Environmental Business Lines.

You will also manage tasks and oversee the work of junior staff, while reporting to a Senior Engineer and mentored by a Principal Engineer.

The ideal candidate must be performance-driven, possess a strong educational background and must be able to work productively, both independently and as a contributing member of a collaborative team.

Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to :

  • Support projects and clients in the planning, design and construction of water / wastewater facilities and other industrial facilities.
  • Development of project / task scopes, schedules, and budget for new projects.
  • Development of project management skills including support in managing budgets and delivery schedules for each assignment.
  • Electrical design and coordination of various projects with an emphasis on power distribution, lighting, communications, security, fire alarm systems, and monitoring and control systems for water, wastewater, and industrial projects.
  • Design work will require a basic proficiency with CAD Programs (Autodesk Products, Bentley Products, etc.) specifically concerning as mentioned electrical systems for Engineering Design and Construction projects.
  • Establishing design criteria, performing design calculations, developing one-line diagrams, control schematics, plans and specifications.
  • Performing engineering services during construction, including reviewing equipment submittals, shop drawings and responding to contractor RFIs (request for information).
  • Conducting field inspections, overseeing projects in construction which includes identifying deviations from design, performing general QA / QC of completed work, and monitoring safety compliance.
  • Performing system analysis using ETAP, SKM Power Tools or other power systems analysis software.
  • Some travel may be required to support project needs (approx. 20% of time).
  • Key Attributes

  • Experience using AutoCAD MEP (2D and 3D) or Revit, SKM Power Tools, short circuit calculations, overcurrent coordination, and / or arc flash analysis, and photometric study (Visual 3D or Dialux).
  • Solid working knowledge of the National Electrical Code requirements.
  • Willingness and desire to mentor junior / staff electrical engineers.
  • Excellent customer / client service skills.
  • Excellent, clear, and concise, verbal, and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work with multi-disciplinary teams effectively to complete projects on time and on budget.
  • Ability to balance multiple assignments and activities to meet project deadlines.
  • Qualifications

    Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, a related discipline, or equivalent work experience.
  • 5 years of relevant experience in the municipal Water / Wastewater industry.
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) designation.
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior consulting experience with water / wastewater and industrial facilities.
  • 8 years of experience.
  • Registered Professional Engineer (PE).
