Position Summary :
This role is an essential part of the MSD Divisional Marketing team and exists to translate business strategy into relevant strategic event marketing that accelerates customer engagement and drives growth.
The Global Strategic Events Manager leads and manages the MSD Events team and is accountable for the strategy, innovation and deployments of all Events including live, virtual and webinars, which increase the impact of all MSD Marketing campaigns, to meet growth expectations.
What will you do?
Lead, manage, coach and develop the MSD regional events teams by proactively identifying developmental opportunities and training needs.
Work collaboratively with MSD BU Marketing Partners and Sales & Marketing stakeholders to understand business priorities and translate them into an events strategy;
define goals, return on investment, lead measurement and other KPI’s.
Partner with cross functional teams including marketing operations, analytics and digital marketing to develop comprehensive, multiple tactical, pre, post and at show journeys which are in alignment with our business strategy.
Work with regional team leads to track and report event KPIs and analytics to ensure we meet the goals for demand generation and return on investment
Develop new solutions for more efficient and user friendly ELC tools which comply with appropriate regulations
Advise and Guide the Divisional Marketing Leadership Team and Divisional Leadership Team on event strategy and customer experience
Work with the analytics and digital marketing team to manage the leads process in compliance with Thermo Fisher guidelines and regional regulations,
Develop and oversee delivery of effective customer facing events (virtual, webinars, tradeshows, conferences, workshops, seminar series, road shows, customer receptions) to support annual marketing plans.
Collaborate closely with other Thermo Fisher Scientific groups to incept and deliver on Corporate events (Tier 1), ensuring optimum representation of the Materials and Structural Analysis Division
Understand exhibit house processes to ensure timely booth arrangements : Oversee the coordination of the production, maintenance and loan schedule of booth materials
Control and manage MSD Events budget ( 1.3M USD). Responsible for approvals, annual AOP process, and forecasting budgeted expenses and communication of budget status on a regular basis.
Ensure team is fully executing all post show tasks and review of post event analysis
Ensures cost-effective event implementation, high quality, post-event assessment.
Ensuring brand standards are met in all events and conferences.
Review, analyse and share Events & Conference best practice to a wide range of stakeholders to improve the effectiveness of marketing output.
Drive events excellence & innovation and continuously improve on events and conference ROI and differentiate Thermo Fisher Scientific as the World Leader in Serving Science.
Degree in Marketing, Communications, or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience with 10+ years of event and / or marketing management.
Certified Trade Show Management (CTSM) certification is a plus
Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) certification is a plus
Experience Qualifications :
7+ years of Marketing Communications and / or event management experience in a business-to-business environment, preferably for a U.S. based company.
Industrial Market experience preferred.
Experience with global and / or regional team leadership and change management
Experience in developing and implementing an events marketing organization
Skill Requirements :
Demonstrated leadership competencies such as teamwork, creative problem solving, flexibility and willingness to challenge the status quo.
Ability to travel up to 25%-50% domestically and internationally with valid passport
Additional conversational language skills are considered as an advantage

Experience with budget management and financial tracking
High level of intensity and comfort level with change
Must be able to concentrate and perform accurately often under very short deadlines and stress
Superior interpersonal / relationship skills with strong customer orientation intercultural experience a must
Able to lift and transport at least 25-50LBS of weight
