Position Purpose & Summary : To position Cargill as a recognized leader in Food & Feed (Sweetness, Proteins, Fibres & Lipids, and Ethanol), with product and application expertise, as well as technical knowledge and service.

This is accomplished through :

  • Creation of deep customer (and related product application) knowledge, insights and relationships, including via customer needs dialogues’ that facilitate the translation of customer needs into innovative products and customer solutions.
  • Delivery of value growth via differentiated product and service solutions that help our customers thrive.
  • Execution of customer L1a projects according to commercial strategy, customer segmentation and business impact.
  • In-depth industry, process, product and application knowledge that enables to efficiently advise our key customers.
  • Representing Cargill at key customers in the Food & Feed space.
  • New Business Development, NBD, via customer projects.
  • New Products introduction support (Technical Support to NPSS).
  • Principal Accountabilities : 20% Customer need assessment and portfolio :

  • Contribute to achieve the NBD targets set by the Business in close cooperation with the respective Account teams and R&D project teams.
  • Utilize customer needs dialogues’ to identify and communicate customer needs and create new product ideas in existing and potential new applications.
  • Plan and execute Application & Technical Service activities within customer projects according to strategy, segmentation and business plans, as TS tag or TS team member.
  • Understand total cost to serve the customer and actively seek for solutions to improve profitability of the Business. In this respect the capability to set up, participate in and evaluate the results of laboratory, pilot and plant level application trials is important.
  • Contribute to know-how creation and customer value propositions.
  • Act as Technical Service tag (i.e. primary technical contact) for key accounts (Partners & Growth Drivers - strategic customers).
  • 30%Support the introduction of new products :

  • Proactively identify customer solutions and new ways that a Cargill Platform can create value for the customer.
  • Contribute to the development of new products and solutions by assuming the role of Technical Lead in identified projects and contribute to IP creation and protection.
  • Contribute to achieving the NPD targets set by the Business in close cooperation with the respective Account teams and R&D project teams.
  • Perform and organize evaluation and reporting of application trials (lab, pilot, plant level).
  • Support the creation of presentation materials and apply these for customer presentations or at technical meetings / symposia.
  • Validation of new / improved products (incl. value proposition) prior to market introduction.
  • Support the SKU management.
  • Works directly with strategic customers to build and maintain a solid understanding of their business strategy, in conjunction with external trends in order to proactively identify new product opportunities, specific to their needs Anticipates and translates customer needs into clear and concise specifications that can be understood and acted upon by internal R&D, Operations, Sales and Commercial teams.

    Typically identifies opportunities across all Platform businesses.35% Project management :

  • Identifies project scope, begins project plan and provides project oversight for strategic customers where success is important.
  • Projects typically involve new cocoa blends / new application technology (level 1A and 1 projects).

  • Provides project follow-up on behalf of the customer (level 1A and 1 projects). Works directly with Cargill’s internal R&D (Research, Development and Applications) and Operations teams to ensure projects are completed and issues are resolved timely and within agreed upon cost and quality standards.
  • Independently troubleshoots problems, utilizing deep knowledge in one or more field AND wide knowledge across multiple specialties.
  • Works directly with Research, Development, Applications and Commercial QA team on behalf of the customer.

    15% Customer communication and training :

  • Independently, or with support from internal R&D / Sales / Commercial teams, creates and delivers specialized training for customers to educate on various processes, products, ingredients and their different applications.
  • May delegate training documentation to more junior team members.

  • Independently, or with support from internal R&D team, documents complex product specifications and delivers specifications and prototype direct to the customer or internal Applications or Production teams.
  • Provides coaching and facilitates knowledge transfer to more junior team members.
  • Provides guidance to customers on legislation and regulation related to food, food safety and health claims that may influence products, ingredients and labelling.
  • Organize seminars, trainings and presentations for customers on product development and application : Internal basic training as to what support can provided, coaching specific projectsExternal presenting products one-
  • to-one with the customer.


  • HBO / University (bachelor’s degree food technology)
  • 10+ years working experience in food industry
  • Experience in Cocoa industry is preferred
  • Experience in Bakery, Ice cream and / or Confectionary industry is preferred
  • Well experienced in creating technical solutions in cooperation with customers
  • Proven skills in providing technical service to customers (internal or external)
  • Ideally experienced in the development and production of consumer products
  • Proven skills in providing technical service to customers (internal or external)
  • Familiar in the use of equipment’s in the lab as well as on-line production facility for food applications
  • Strong project- & stakeholders skills
  • High level of customer awareness and customer focus
  • Strong listening, communication skills and practical hands-on approach in problem solving.
  • Flexible, positive and open-minded
  • Good interpersonal skills and team worker, with the ability to well function independently when necessary
  • Ability to communicate and cooperate with cross-functional teams within the organization
  • Excellent knowledge of English, good knowledge of French, both written and spoken.
