Duties & Responsibilities
The Senior Structural Engineer is responsible in the planning, design and development of both large scale and small scale projects within the global sectors of Advanced Technology and Life Science facilities.
This position reports to the Discipline Director of Structural Engineering and is located in Albany, New York.
Serves as the Project Discipline Lead and may be required to Sign and Seal documents
Assists the Discipline Director of Structural Engineering in preparing proposals
Proficient with structural engineering calculations, skillful with finite element analysis, prepares design documents and edits construction specifications
Leads and mentors structural engineers, designers and junior staff
Fosters morale and culture through collaboration
Coordinates structural models and documents with other design disciplines and contractors
Performs and implements QA / QC procedures including reviewing documents for constructability and completeness
Understands scopes of work, schedules, budgets, project instructions and responsibilities
Executes discipline procedures as determined by the Discipline Director of Structural Engineering
Performs duties as assigned by the Project Discipline Lead, the Structural Platform Lead, or the Discipline Director of Structural Engineering
Proficient with structural software such as STAAD, TEDDS and RAM Structural System
Proficient with wind and seismic analysis and design
Proficient with material design for Concrete, Masonry and Steel
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Advanced proficiency with Excel
Experience with Bluebeam is not required but is preferred
8-12 years’ experience in structural engineering
Bachelor's Degree in civil or structural engineering (Master's Degree preferred)
Professional Engineering (PE) license.
Occasional travel as a part of project delivery
