Data sharing between organizations provides enormous opportunities for companies in optimizing supply chain collaboration.
In their transition towards more advanced forms of supply chain collaboration, organizations are faced with a dichotomy.
On the one hand, they are becoming ever more aware that data is a real valuable asset in the emerging data economy and should be handled by the organizations as such, whilst on the other hand they require trust that the organization’s data is handled in a controlled and secure way as a prerequisite for the organization to share its data.
The International Data Spaces initiative (IDS) is a major international development aimed at realizing the conditions for securely sharing data that allows organizations to stay in control over the term-of-use with which their valuable data can be used (i.
e. data sovereignty). The international IDS initiative leverages existing standards and technologies, as well as governance models well-accepted in the data economy, to facilitate secure and standardized data exchange and data linkage in a trusted business ecosystem.
TNO is the national center-of-expertise on IDS and is helping organizations in various sectors (such as industry and logistics) to share data trustworthy, efficiently and securely.
Combining and enriching the available data means that the individual sector and society as a whole can reap the benefits of trustworthy data sharing.
At TNO we are looking into the various aspects of the IDS-technology to support data sharing and are as such leading the (inter-)national developments.
The current IDS-implementations are aimed at relatively powerful hardware that enable sharing data cross-organizations. But in order to reach the full potential of a data sharing environment, the whole chain of systems data flows through must be part of the data sharing environment, including the rich diversity of light-weight sensor and Internet-of-Thing (IoT) devices.
Your challenge is to research how lightweight technical library aimed at IDS-enabling the IoT devices can be designed and develop an initial version (PoC) of it.
It will be able to run at low powered devices (for instance on Raspberry Pi's) that can be incorporated in the IDS environment.
In your activities, you will be supported by TNO’s experts in the (inter-)national field.
What do we require of you?
Knowledge of distributed systems is essential along with a strong software affinity. We are looking for people that enjoy both research as well as the actual development of software.
