Senior F I Capital & Ratings Advisory specialist within Global Capital Markets
ING Wholesale Banking ( WB ) is looking to hire a Senior FI Capital & Rating Advisory specialist for its Global Capital Markets ( GCM ) team in Amsterdam or London based.
As part of the team you will be responsible to steer rating advisory for ING’s large Financial Institutions (FI) clients.
You will support FI clients and various ING teams by providing rating and capital analysis on bank and insurance companies (for instance in case of M&A opportunities and the issuance of capital instruments).
In case of a mandate, you will lead a rating process. Furthermore you will coordinate and prepare regular rating updates and tailor-made rating advice.
Based in Amsterdam or London, you will closely collaborate with colleagues in GCM, FI Advisory and Corporate Rating Advisory as well as FI coverage bankers.
Primary focus would be on EMEA clients, however also Americas and Asian teams could be supported. Next to rating agency topics you will advise on bank and insurance regulation, the capital structure and capital instruments for FI’s.
As sustainability ratings becomes more and more important, certain affinity is a virtue.
As our new colleague you will join a small, highly skilled Capital Structuring, Liability Management and Sustainable Markets team within Global Capital Markets.
You will report directly to head of Capital Structuring, Liability Management and Sustainable Markets who reports to the Head of GCM.
You will have a second functional line to FI Advisory.
What you'll do?
Execute rating advisory mandates for FI clients, by leading unrated FI issuers through this process. This includes commercial discussions with the rating agencies, as well as managing the logistics of rating book production and rating agency management meetings.
Coordinate and provide in depth rating analysis and advice on the (expected) issuer rating. Analyse capital structures and form a rating outcome view.
This will involve the detailed analysis of industry risk, business risk, key credit risks, capital, management / corporate governance, financial risk and specific debt / legal structures, amongst other factors.
Provide rating analysis on the (expected ) issue rating for specific instruments (AT1, RT1, T2 etc)
Advise FI clients on the annual rating review and potential rating actions
Provide in depth rating analysis on merger & acquisition opportunities
Identify market opportunities and monitor market developments on rating and new bank and insurance regulation by applying knowledge from various market sources (Bloomberg, macro-economic research, client specific news, etc.)
Liaison with the three large rating agencies (S&P, Moody’s & Fitch) and policy makers of regulatory bodies like EBA, EIOPA, SRB, etc.
Provide direct support to senior DCM, FI Advisory and FI Coverage teams with the aim to pitch and execute new structuring mandates like bank and insurance capital instruments, liability management or sustainable bonds
Steer and educate the juniors of the team
Liaise with other key ING stakeholders (e.g. other DCM departments, DCM Syndicate, FI Advisory, Corporate Rating Advisory, FI Coverage, Syndications, FM Research) to identify opportunities, enhance internal cooperation and to maximize client cross-sell
Take ownership of the rating models
Support further product development
What do we ask?
Preferably MBA graduate / CFA holder
5+ years of experience as a financial institutions credit analyst at Moody's, S&P or Fitch and / or in a Ratings Advisory or Capital Solutions team within a major bank
You possess exceptional skills in fundamental bank and insurance credit analysis, bank and / or insurance regulation, capital instruments and deep knowledge of the application of rating agency methodologies in the financial institutions space
Extensive experience in capital markets
You have excellent analytical skills, presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills
You possess the ability to deliver with efficiency and effectiveness
You demonstrate determination and dedication towards achieving results
You are willing to go above and beyond for the sake of the team and clients
You are a self-starter and are comfortable working independently and as part of a team
