Department description

Audio (speech & music) continues to grow as a primary human interface on portable consumer devices. Good audio performance is becoming increasingly important in order to give consumers truly enjoyable portable audio! The PL Mobile Audio produces Audio Enhancing Amplifiers, with micro speaker driver with unrivaled acoustic performance for tiny speakers, Sensor Drivers, Low Power Amplifiers and Audio Converters.

Without protection of the tiny speakers this will give (even more) reliability issues. Therefore, speaker protection solutions and audio enhancing technologies will be increasingly important.

It is our mission to provide best in class audio system solutions giving an exciting sound experience in portable devices for end-

consumers. For our Mobile Audio department, based in Nijmegen, we are looking for a Master or PhD student with a strong interest in creating innovative IP.

Internship assignment

The assignment will contain the following tasks :

  • A study on the DC-DC boost converters in NXP products, competitor products and literature.
  • Identification of limitations in existing DC-DC boost converter implementations.
  • Introduction and investigation of new, alternative implementations.
  • Setting up a simulation environment for comparison of new and existing implementations on key performance indicators.
  • PCB area / cost.
  • Transistor level implementation of an alternative for the existing implementation.
  • Your Profile

  • Master or PhD student in Electronic Engineering
  • Experienced in Analog Circuit Block Design is an advantage.
  • Possesses Analytical Skills and ability to apply pragmatic approaches.
  • Any experience with Audio integrated application is an advantage
  • Good communication skills in both Dutch and English.
  • Target driven, showing initiative and having an entrepreneurial attitude.
