The role of the Strategy and Development team is to analyze Marel’s business to understand how the company can optimize its value creation and capture and drive projects that are essential to that.

The team mainly focuses on identifying and executing cross-functional and / or high impact projects within the areas of strategy, M&A, market intelligence, operational excellence and integration in close collaboration with senior management, employees of Strategy and Development and other stakeholders.

The Associate / Manager will have his / her focus on leading integration & operational excellence projects as part of a larger team or as direct team leader.

The Associate Strategy & Development will report to the Director Strategy & Development focused on Integration & OpEx. The team is currently located in the Netherlands and Iceland so these locations are therefore the best match with a candidate.

Main tasks

The role focuses on participating in and supporting the projects and tasks that the department is responsible for, which mostly, but not exclusively, focus on the following areas :

  • Participate in due diligence and M&A projects, together with senior management
  • Drive (part of) post-merger integration projects of acquired companies
  • Lead and execute data analysis to support and facilitate decision making
  • Work on strategic planning and provide support to business units, improving operations and aligning execution with strategy
  • Participate in and encourage best practice sharing across business units and locations
  • Requirements

    The position demands an impact-driven, business-minded, pro-active individual with strong analytical capabilities and leadership potential.

    Moreover, the individual needs to be willing to travel if projects so demand, and have the following capabilities :

  • Master’s degree with a preference in Business, Economics, Engineering
  • Experience in (leading) cross-functional projects and teams
  • Typically 3-5 yrs work experience
  • Consultancy background with one of the top-tier management consulting firms is a benefit
  • Great interpersonal and leadership abilities
  • Effective analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Comprehensive business and financial understanding
  • Curious and hands-on mentality to quickly identify and implement adequate solutions
  • Team player who understands cultural differences
  • Preference for candidates with proven change management skills
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
  • Fluency in English; other language capabilities are a benefit
