Role description

The Database Administrator is responsible for the administration and maintenance of database management systems, application infrastructure and -

architecture in a timely and adequately manner to guarantee business continuity.


  • Configures, installs and maintains database software, application infrastructure and architecture, applicable hardware and systems according to specified level of quality.
  • Prevents and solves interferences according to specified level of quality.
  • Implements policies and procedures.
  • Manages and administrates service contracts and licenses.
  • Manages small and medium sized ICT projects.
  • Monitors and analyzes database and application performance in relation with business processes, reports and takes corrective actions when required.
  • Maintains good relationships with external parties.
  • Communicates with other sections to report and resolve software, hardware, and operational problems.
  • Consults users when necessary to analyze and understand functions, the desired features and requirements.
  • Installs and tests software and hardware upgrades related to database systems and application infrastructure.
  • Requirements

  • Technical college in ICT / Informatics.
  • Over 3 years of relevant experience in database administration.
  • English good, verbally as well as in writing.
  • Dutch good, verbally as well as in writing.
  • Technical knowledge of relevant database systems.
  • Understanding of application server technologies.
  • Technical expertise in database replication technologies.
  • Is a Microsoft Certified System Administrator or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Computer literacy for Microsoft systems and Office applications.
  • Other information

  • Keeps knowledge and procedures up-to-date on all relevant aspects and shares this within the section.
  • Reports regularly to the Department Head ICT on personal achievements and section matters.
  • Correctly administrates work.
  • Creates and maintains documentation.
  • Uses and maintains corporate standards. Develops and proposes improvements.
  • If necessary performs activities on other ICT disciplines.
  • If necessary performs activities abroad; on site, offshore or with client.
