Location : De Lier / Enkhuizen Into actionis responsible for designing and execution of breeding and technology projects by means of research, resulting in improvements and innovations of Syngenta Tomato Portfolio within the framework of product profile specifications.
As part of the tomato development team, you require the knowledge to interact with other members as pathologists, plant physiologists, statisticians, biometrician, and molecular marker specialists.
The challengeThe Breeding Project Lead is co-responsible for developing an innovative and commercially successful product portfolio of Tomato varieties for Active Green House markets.
You will secure the relevant phenotyping and participate actively to the traits discovery in close collaborations with your colleagues in genetic and trait projects.
You will take place in the internal global Syngenta tomato breeding network to maximize the opportunity for exchange of ideas and the leveraging of germplasm and traits.
You will take responsibility for the successful implementation of projects and organize prototype testing in the market in collaboration with our farm management and our product evaluation team.
As molecular marker technology grows in importance, this role requires you to use the most effective breeding methods that would take advantage of the latest technology tools to accelerate the progress of developing successful commercial varieties.
Your profile To succeed in this position you should at least have a Masters degree in plant science (breeding) or have a Ph.
D in Plant Breeding. The ideal candidate has good understanding of new product / process implementation in a commercial environment and knowledge (basic) in pathology, plant physiology, crop management, experimental design and statistics, molecular markers and database management.
You should have strong project and people Management skills and the ability to work with multi-cultural, multi-functional and multi-
