This job offers you a monthly salary between €3500 and €5000 depending on your experience. This is based on a 36-hour work week, excluding a 13th month and holiday allowance.

Your impact as Synthetic Monitoring Cloud Engineer at NN

Our Lead Engineer has a clear vision on our synthetic monitoring services. As a cloud expert, you are the perfect candidate to translate this vision into efficient solutions.

Your assignment is to develop a scalable platform using modern cloud technologies. Our ambition is to roll out the platform internationally in due course.

You collect all the requirements and convert them to qualitative solutions. Then you build, test and run the platform. You also needly register all changes in the process.

We integrate the solution with the NN Splunk platform on which we collect all data from jMonitor, so that we can use the data to monitor and observe the reliability of our portals.

The next step is to predict service interuptions.

You will keep our system secure, prevent it from attacks, remediate vulnerabilities and drive down risk. We have two cloud communities within NN and you know where to find your colleagues to discuss things like requirements of availability.

This way you contribute to the reliability of NN.

You understand how self-service and automation help NN engineers to improve the way they use the NN synthetic monitoring service.

You support NN engineers when they get stuck, or have questions, locally and internationally. Together with the team you are responsible for all aspects of the Synthetic monitoring service.

You develop and maintain the Synthetic Monitoring platform solution architecture and ensure any new features / developments meet the target vision.

Each service we deliver is delivered through automation and self-service, which enables us to service the growing community of NN engineers who use our services at NN.

Your responsibilities

  • Satisfied NN engineers and IT colleagues, who are enabled to be better in control, because you helped them in setting up monitoring and event management functions

    You like to look ahead and continuously think along about improvements. You develop yourself by experimenting a lot and by being a member of the right cloud engineering communities.

    You would like to contribute to the IT community outside NN. Furthermore, you have :

  • About 3 to 5 years of experience as a Cloud Engineer within a large enterprise
  • A bachelor’s degree in IT and a good dose of knowledge of Java development, of automation, and cloud engineering practices
  • Familiarity with AIOps technologies, preferably Splunk, with synthetic monitoring technologies, preferably jMeter, with developing open source frameworks combined with good knowledge on agile & scrum methodologies
  • Good working & theoretical knowledge on DevOps tools & technologies such as GIT, Azure DevOps, AWS Cloud
  • Good knowledge on agile and scrum methodologies

    You play a central role in our new team. Together with driven engineers, all with their own expertise, such as cloud engineering, IT4IT tooling and monitoring, you create a valuable synthetic monitoring platform.

    You will integrate the tooling with the NN Splunk platform. Our department serves many different parties, thousands of users.

    We work closely together with the AIOps team that provides the platform. We have many international colleagues, so our working language is English.

    We work very efficiently and we know where to find each other. We not only work hard, but also do fun things like online escape rooms.

  • Salary between €3500 and €5000 depending on your knowledge and experience

  • Holiday allowance and a 13th month, paid with your monthly salary

    Because of Covid-19, all NN colleagues are currently working from home fully digitally. It is currently not yet clear when we can return to the office.

    When we work in the office again, you can work in The Hague, where our office is located next to the A12. It is also easily accessible by public transport as well.

    Want to get some fresh air? You can take the tram or bike and you will be at the beach in half an hour. You can also work from our office next to Rotterdam Central station, above the Nationale-Nederlanden DE Café.

    The café is an ideal spot for a good cup of coffee. You can enjoy a healthy lunch in our staff restaurant and we also offer a range of Asian dishes.
