We are actively seeking a Director of Finance to join our team in the Upper Peninsula (U.P.) of Michigan.
This position will support all Aspirus facilities in Michigan and can sit at any Aspirus U.P. location.
GENERAL SUMMARY :
The Director of Finance plans, directs and oversees activities, programs, and services for the UP Finance Team. The director develops and secures approval of goals and objectives for assigned areas of responsibility.
The position develops and implements plans and budgets necessary to achieve goals. Directors seek and consult with other functions to ensure effective and efficient coordination of efforts.
The position directs and oversees the work of supervisory and non-supervisory employees. The director monitors changes in the regulatory requirements that impact policies and / or operations and approves all policies and procedures for the functional area.
Directors evaluate results achieved for assigned area(s) and make decisions that impact business plans, strategic goals and financial results.
LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES :
Maintains, promotes and connects people with a clear view of the mission, vision, and values of Aspirus.
Shares responsibility for the ongoing cultural transformation of the organization and engagement of employees.
Actively participates and promotes system initiatives related to the Patient Experience.
Holds employees accountable for the timely completion of system wide conditions of employment initiatives, online education, and policy and procedure compliance.
Actively champions and participates in the Continuous Process Improvement (CPI) vision for the system.
Supports Organizational Learning and Development and Talent Acquisition initiatives.
Positively represents the organization in professional and community events.
DIRECTOR RESPONSIBILITIES :
Develops and communicates to leaders and employees the Functional Team Vitals that operationally and strategically align to define success within the system.
Directs and plans corrective actions on negative variances in monitored Vitals areas.
Exercise overall budget approval, development and control within their areas of responsibility aligning operational outcomes system goals.
Directs the development of, and approves all policies and procedures for a functional area.
Directs and oversees strategic talent initiatives including retention, development, and succession planning.
Accountable for productivity targets in assigned area(s)
Facilitates and drives operational agendas for regional functional teams and regional Committees.
Holds managers and supervisors accountable for effective management strategies.
FUNCTIONAL AREA ACCOUNTABILITIES
Accountable for ensuring compliance with accounting principles according to GAAP throughout the U.P. Region
Responsibility for preparation of the financial statements, reports and statistical analysis.
Reviews and analyzes such reports with all levels of administration.
Responsible for annual capital and operating budget for the Region.
Oversees the preparation of the mid-month projection and reporting to leadership.
Manages and prepares proformas and detailed financial analysis in collaboration with leadership.
Responsible for developing and actively maintain reimbursement and cost reporting models used to analyze the organizations financial position.
Responsible for Evaluating, developing and maintaining internal controls.
Accountable for promoting and interacting between functions on project completion between functions within the Region.
Accountable for the 340B program in the region.
Assures compliance with all corporate contractual obligations.
Consults with IT on projects throughout the Region.
Responsible for the accurate filing and preparation of hospital tax return preparation collaborating with Aspirus System Finance.
Consults and collaborates on the Year End Audit with Aspirus System Finance.
Performs all other duties as assigned.
M INIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED :
Knowledge of accounting standards and practices normally acquired through completion of a Bachelor's Degree in accounting, finance or related area.
A Master's Degree in accounting, finance or related area and / or CPA status or FHFMA certification beneficial.
Minimum of five to seven years of health care financial management experience.
