What are you going to do?

You are going to apply software engineering best practices in the area of network planning, scheduling and optimization.

Plus : develop a set of tools that resolve the issues concerning our fleet, ground services and network in the case of travel disruption.

  • This means you make impact on our KLM operation and you could be working on our in-house developed flight schedule management tool;
  • a tool that helps us decide how many crew we need to have hired and trained 5 years from now based on complex rules and our network ambitions.

    Or develop a tool that identifies new opportunities to expand our slot portfolio on our heavily congested hub Amsterdam Airport Schiphol.

    You will work with the newest technologies in the area of (big) data and distributed computing and employ cutting edge machine learning and operations research algorithms. Furthermore :

  • You will coach your (data scientist) teammates in the intricacies and best practices of software engineering, CI / CD, API design, and more;
  • You’ll design the architecture together with senior software engineers and evaluate technology choices to solve the problems at hand;
  • You are encouraged and expected to spend 10% of your time with us expanding your knowledge, conducting research and developing yourself.
  • You can do this by following courses, reading papers, or doing cool hack-projects with your colleagues!

As you’re part of the platform Integral Planning & Control you will work shoulder to shoulder with other Software Engineers, Data Scientists, Product Owners, Business Product Analysts, Operations Research Experts and Frontline Staff to shape the future of KLM and the aviation industry.

    You are a software professional with the knowledge, innovative power and analytical ability to make an impact in any environment.

    You are a strong communicator, verbally and in writing, in both Dutch and English. You are excellent at explaining why your solution is the best, and with your powers of persuasion you will effortlessly win over your colleagues.

    You are a bridge builder, stand firmly on your feet and resist resistance.

    You also bring along :

  • preferably Bachelor degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering or other relevant fields;
  • recent programming experience with recent programming experience with C++, preferably versions 17 or 20;
  • experience with databases and SQL;
  • experience with building APIs and knowledge of REST API best practices;
  • knowledge of continuous integration / continuous deployment techniques;
  • proficient with automated testing; experience with bringing models to production and supporting data scientists in industrialising their code.
