Job Purpose and Summary

As a member of Canon's Unity Programme, this Business Process Consultant role will join the Finance stream, and support the Finance Business Design Lead / GL Manager in ensuring delivery of the key objectives.

You will provide Oracle R12 Finance expertise to the organisation, and ensure that business processes operate effectively with the expected outcome.

You'll play a leading role in supporting our National Sales Organisations across EMEA with adopting standardised solutions, and supporting them during the critical month end close process.

Your key responsibilities will be :

1. Understand key end to end business processes and their resulting accounting requirements. Ensure correct accounting occurs at the correct time.

  • Identify issues that block or prevent correct accounting. Propose appropriate corrective action. Raise SRs or CRs s appropriate;
  • track and support resolution through to completion.

    2. Critically evaluate requests for process / system changes; identify clear problem statements, business requirement(s) and establish a persuasive business case.

    Support the resulting change request process (e.g. preparing the business case, input into ALM, presenting and explaining the requirement).

    Help develop appropriate solutions. Develop UAT scenarios and test scripts, execute UAT and secure business acceptance. Prepare working instructions.

    3. Provide clear advice and expertise to the Finance community on how Oracle R12 can be utilised to support business requirements and processes.

    Make recommendations on how the system can be used to improve efficiency and effectiveness. Initiate and drive the identification of key areas of improvement and proactively facilitate change and adoption activities.

  • 4. During periods NSOs are in MEC Hypercare mode provide support and guidance to them; ensure MEC rehearsals are carried out;
  • ensure appropriate preparation activities are conducted to minimise risk to the actual close itself. Be prepared to step in when necessary.

    As time progresses, assist in the preparation of preparing the NSO for transfer from Hypercare to BAU.

    5. Help drive the adoption of standardised solutions. Train and educate NSO stakeholders ensure their understanding and acceptance of the standard processes and template.

    Ensure appropriate working instructions are developed and provided.

    6. Act as Finance expert and representative in various feasibility / investigative studies, for example, NSO template validation (i.

    e. ISS, OPT), new projects. Provide clear explanations of appropriate end to end processes. Assess validity of non-compliancy to standardised processes.

    We are looking for someone with :

  • Demonstrable knowledge of Oracle R12 is required. This is in the context of its applicability to business processes (detailed technical knowledge is not required and is outside the context of this role).
  • A good, demonstrable knowledge of business processes (i.e. end to end) and their correct accounting transactions is essential.
  • The expectation is that candidates will have a minimum of three years’ relevant practical experience and are able to demonstrate an appropriate academic and / or professional training.

  • Ability to identify weaknesses in and potential improvements to finance processes is essential.
  • Demonstrable experience of financial month end close processes, in a complex environment, is essential
  • Demonstrable understanding of how to create and run SQL scripts
  • Pragmatic tenacious approach to problem solving;
  • Able to grasp and comprehend complex issues quickly and able explain them in an easily understood form
  • Demonstrable planning skills; able to work to tight deadlines; ability to prioritise
  • Team player with an ability to influence and persuade others
  • Results driven with good eye for detail
  • Fluent in written and verbal English. Confident communicator able to explain complex issues succinctly and effectively.
  • Competency in other European languages (written and spoken) is a plus
  • A willingness to travel (within Europe) is required

  • One can expect an assignment contract of 2 years.

  • The Unity programme is based in the Amstelveen, The Netherlands office; this is primarily the reason why the majority of the roles are located in the Netherlands.
