Would you like to become a part of a recently formed agile product team to solve a complex problem within the University of Amsterdam (UvA) and decide with the team what is the best approach to solve this problem?

And help develop it? ICT Services (ICTS) within the UvA and the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences (AUAS) is looking for a solution architect, tech lead, senior developer for the new product team WISH.

This team will work within the programme of educational logistics of the UvA and make sure that every student is always informed of relevant information, can ask questions online, and has access to self-services.

To realize this, we will solve interesting problems like building a search service, bots, live chat, gradually replacing legacy systems, automated translations and integration with a headless CMS, a front end that will be built by colleagues within the team and existing customer service software.

The team will also create or source microservices for saving user preferences about notifications and sending those notifications.

As an agile product team, team WISH itself is responsible for reaching their goals and organizing how to reach those goals.

Your voice is an essential part of this way of working. You will be employed by ICTS, within the department of Sturing en Ondersteuning (S&O).

Together with colleagues within and outside ICTS that have a focus on educational logistics, you will take on the challenge to adapt to new developments that require UvA wide changes in information dissemination towards students.

What are you going to do?

  • Design and build the new solution WISH;
  • Make analyses of existing processes within the organization, and use those to design and develop features : extending the functional requirements and making them more concrete, programming new parts of the solution, testing and analyzing test results, solving bugs;
  • Design and develop automated testing including reports;
  • Setting up an automated environment in which to run the solution : The team will be responsible for the functioning of our solution, you build it, you run it, you love it;
  • Analyse the cause and nature of occurring problems in the functioning of the systems and taking action to solve them;
  • Support of (logistical) processes on the boarder of IT and education;
  • Cooperate with other departments within ICTS to make sure that we can make use of previous solutions, and making sure that others can use ours;
  • Take part in meetings to share knowledge, skills and learned lessons with other teams.
  • What do we require of you?

  • Your experience and profile;
  • experience as a technical solution architect in a complex environment;
  • experience with the development of web applications / micro services in for example C# and / or Java and making decisions on what technology to use;
  • knowledge of common development methods both for frontend and the backend;
  • experience with online environments in an educational organization;
  • familiarity with elastic and / or azure search, bot frameworks, translation services, headless CMS is a bonus;
  • familiarity with setting up an automated continuous deployment environment is a bonus;
  • familiarity with agile development;
  • strong analytical skills and insights in processes;
  • a proactive nature and a strong problem-solving ability;
  • the willingness to invest in the product, the team and yourself;
  • you are a teamplayer and you have a sense of humor;
  • some knowledge of the Dutch Language is a bonus.
  • Our offer

    The gross monthly salary based on full-time employment (38 hours per week) ranges from €3.746,- up to a maximum of €5.826,- gross per month (salary scale 11 or 12).

    This is exclusive 8% holiday allowance and 8,3% end-of-year bonus. The starting salary will be based on qualifications, expertise and relevant experience.

    The profile Consultant ICT 2 / Consultant ICT 1 is applicable in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement of Dutch Universities.
